*squeal* IM BACK BABY! Finally finished a book in a day again! This was actually a really fun read. I loved the magic and the villain and the hidden magic world. It was exactly what I needed. I will definitely be picking up the sequel to see where Sunny goes with her powers and apprenticeship. Also, the cover makes a lot of sense and really tied in well with the story.

Reread: Ga! I love this series and all the geopolitics going on. Even knowing the "big character reveal," I still enjoyed this book as much as I did the first time!

I absolutely adored this book! I am super excited to continue reading the trilogy. I've never read Pearson before but I love her writing style and Lia is what I imagine myself to be like in her situation.

This book was SO FREAKING good! I love the characters and the world and the writing! Gah! It fulfills my love of historical fiction and fantasy and romance and a strong female lead that I don't want to punch! Even better than the first book!

I legitimately don't know what to do with my life now that this trilogy is over... *looks around sadly experiencing intense book hangover*

just read it.

Ugh! So🙌damn🙌good🙌 it's just like the vibes of Remnant Chronicles and the details thrown in about the world from the trilogy just hit me in the feels! Ugh I need the sequel!

What the hell?! *Cries* why do I let authors do this to me?! I need Shatter now! Come on!

PS...there may be a cliffhanger...may

I don't know how I didn't see the ending coming! It made sense but Danica seemed so sure...which I guess rubbed off on me. This was really interesting!

Damn it, I need the sequel! February 2018 is so far away!

Her fiance is a sociopath and mother is a piece of work. I really liked how the book brought up Danica's addiction to her corsets and that she uses them to control and punish herself. I've never had disorders or anything but my friends who have explained it quite similarly.

Everyone I know that's has or is involved with substances (consumption and/or selling) has done it for pretty similar reasons of wanting to get out of a bad and unhealthy relationships...however, something more complicated ends up changing the get in-->get cash-->get out original plan.

"Screw fate. I'll tear down the stars for you"

*Samm bursts into tears* STOP THE CUTENESS!

I'm struggling with the rating so let's go with a 3.5 (PS WHY DON'T YOU LET US GIVE HALF STAR RATINGS GOODREADS?!)

Honestly, this wasn't exactly what I was expecting (which is fine) but I can't help but to compare it to The Girl From Everywhere which was just better in my opinion. Being totally upfront: I detested the main female character. She's literally every characteristic I hate in females in YA. I actually messaged a friend within the first 50 pages and asked if she got any better (which...meh, not really) but it became bearable as more of the cast were introduced. I really liked the concept and the world (thought I do need this world to keep being fleshed out). My favourite part was definitely the lineage mysteries surrounding the MC's brother and her own parentage but unfortunately this really didn't play a role until the last...third? of the book. I also found the magic to be super underdeveloped--which can sometimes be a strength of a book--but it just made me feel a little lost in this book. The existing magic and supernatural stuff almost felt out of place?

It was a rough start but it got better as the book progressed. I definitely want to know where the plot goes for certain characters and hope that books 2 and 3 will develop the world, magic and lineage...maybe even make me like the MC?

This book is so INSANELY underhyped! The father daughter relationship is SO DAMN GOOD

Reread: damn I loved this book even more the second time around.

OH!MY!GOD!I!LOVED!THIS!BOOK!

The characters were all really cool! There was a lot more pirates and sailing than I was anticipating (which was a big wonderful surprise plus) and the betrayals! OMG poor Kora! Girl is gonna have some trust issues going forward! Especially for a stand alone, I'm really impressed with the world development, problems, amount of questing, plot twists and character development. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for Annie's next work.
