very gorgeous art but I agree with other reviews - you're better off reading the book first to understand the bits and pieces that are left out, and also to avoid the annoyance that is fifty million brim-full speech boxes. much easier to read the books. hualian are SO beautiful in this though WOW brb buying merch

I loved seeing all the extra side characters get the fleshing out they deserved. big shout-out to Zhuzhi-lang for being the babiest of all babies. my sweet child... also adored the airplane extras, such a fun look into Qinghuas brain. I feel mxtx had a great handle on characterisation, even in her very first series.
I am, though, slightly traumatised from the wine scene. I don't think I've ever read a scene that made me imagine something so dirty that I had to look away from the book like a catholic nun. and I've been reading fanfiction for approaching ten years now

I did Not expect that ending in any way. Not in a "wow, shocking ending!" way but a "why though" way, although it fits in with just how weird the rest of the story is, it felt like... I don't know, it feels like there should be much more? More plot, more "bosses", more romance before the end. Glad there's extras, but they're extras, not the main plot. I did enjoy this! I just wish there were more. Not too frustrated though, considering that this was MXTX's first ever novel series and that she was still in school writing this. I know it's just meant to be a bit of silly fun, as opposed to her much more serious later works.
Pour one out for Shang Qinghua!

absolutely insane plot. so much fun to read something this unhinged and unapologetic with its dramatics, playing about with its own internal logic in such a way. you could never be mad at this cause it could 100% be worse. it could be proud immortal demon way

this was SO much fun to read I can't possibly give it less than top rating. I know, I know, the writing isn't that fantastic, but how could I give anything less to something I devoured this happily? the plot was pretty stellar, too - maybe it was just me, but I didn't see half of those plot twists coming. were they foreshadowed? some of them, yeah. but I still gagged at all of them regardless!

a great look at the history and theory of pornography. just out of date now, with the advent of the Internet pornography as we know it, but still a very helpful piece.

the translation here was pretty good! definitely better than the infamous seven seas mdzs. the plot itself is frankly so much fun, I could barely stop myself from reading to get my tasks done. As this is only the beginning of a decently long series, the side characters are less developed, although you can see a peek of their potential trajectory that's keeping me interested enough to not be bothered when the main characters are occupied. speaking of... I love the main characters. Luo Binghe my son.......... I would say I also would be irrevocably changed if I saw my hot abusive teacher bound up BDSM style but I'm ace and luckily abuse-free. Shen Qingqiu is so oblivious and I love him for that <3 also love him for being committed to the hater lifestyle. icon
