Loveable characters: Yes

I'm gonna need 7-10 business days before being able to properly verbalise what reading this felt like. makes me believe in true love. 2000 pages of silliness intermittently interrupted by increasingly embellished fight scenes. those last few chapters made all of it ten times more worthwhile than it already was. I worship at the shrine of hua cheng

actually quite a compelling story. not entirely sure I root for the romance here but that's the nature of boys love...

edit: originally had this at 4 stars but actually, looking back, i wrote this review while feverish and more willing to turn an eye. i think the sheer morals of having a character abused consistently, sexually and otherwise, and then framing it as romantic, requires the docking of a point at the very least. it's not at all responsible to show this kind of dynamic as romantic in the way that it was here. I am very much aware that this is typical BL fare, although I will fight lengths to argue that this is still Not Good, and Not Good in a different way to previous BL. all the same, it takes a lot of work to pump out a piece this big at the level of consistency that this was, and i applaud byeonduck for it (but do take breaks, author... it's not good to work yourself to death...)

actually finished reading this last year and forgot to log it but it's too late now, oops.

this was written really exquisitely but the excess of detail and "vibes only" type of storytelling appeals to me less than I thought it did. I also couldn't find it in me to become attached to any of the characters. very odd - I was convinced I would love this book so much so that I finished it despite each page feeling like a chore to get through. I don't think I can recommend this book wholeheartedly except to people who already enjoy this type of writing.

I just can't do short stories, sorry...

줄거리가 흥미롭고 사투리 번역을 잘 됐다고 생각함 ^^
모르는 친구에게 보여줄 수 있는 비엘 책 헤헤

I don't have much to say about the analysis in this book because it's mostly an application of Freudian theory on fujoshi, which is fun to read, but I don't believe in this line of psychology at all. the translations of short stories included at the end were excellent, though, and expressed the authors' writing styles very well.

irrelevant to me now, but the line "haggus fabulous ceased roaming the earth about a quarter of a century ago" will stay with me forever. very nice to know love existed between the gays and the fag hags, at some point in time...

read most of this from her dissertation, that's my mistake! still a very good book.
