This was kind of a weird ending. For most of the book, I was loving it and I thought the wrap up was going to be amazing. Then in the end, it just kind of wasn't. It was pretty anti-climactic really...Noah and Mara decide they're going to be together, despite all the apparent dangers, and then they just are and it ends and I guess everything will be okay? If Mara had stayed dead when Noah killed her, it would have been an awesome twist and I would have given this book a solid five stars. Just...bleh.

This book was weird. It was like filler filler boring filler

This was really good. I had barely read anything about this book and had no idea what to expect. I loved the story and I loved how real of a character Cadence was. I thought the author did a really good job at portraying a complex situation with a lot of emotions where there are no real bad guys - just people trying to do the best for Charlie. I also loved the ending, which was not what I expected. I particularly liked the discussion about mothers and drinking, and how the expectations for Cadence differed so much to if she had been Charlie's father. It was very poignant.

My only real criticism was that the timeline of the book was quite hard to follow, at least for the audiobook version. The flashbacks were sudden and a bit confusing, but this might not be the case for the print version.

Overall, I enjoyed this book.

I liked the problems with Mara's memory, I liked Noah's back story and his general character. Some of the weirder stuff
like Mara's 'powers' and the whole witch doctor disappearing shop thing
was intriguing. These aspects of the book were its strongest, in my opinion.

Conversely, there were a lot of things that annoyed me, like Mara's general character
and her relationship with Noah, which I thought to be a predictable and boring case of instalove ("ooo a new girl in school who hates the hot guy I wonder what will happen?"). This went on for pages and pages in unnecessary detail and really made the middle of the book drag.
. Noah's overdone "perfection" was also quite boring and unrealistic.

I'm intrigued about the story and I have heard the trilogy gets better, so I will carry on with them for now.

This book was phenomenal and I loved it. Although the interview format felt a bit weird to me at the beginning, I enjoyed the way it made the plot move along really swiftly. I cannot wait to find out what will happen in this series!!

This was absolutely awesome. I think I love every sentence in this book. The characters are wonderful, the story is so enthralling, the whole damn thing is great.

Urgh. I still really like this world, but reading that was a massive drag. I hope the series gets better!

The only character I really like at this point is Aphrodite. She is an interesting character who actually seems to have a personality, unlike all of Zoey's friends who read like boring stereotypes to me. Also a lot of the more interesting characters like Zoey's mother are not really in the book which is a shame - Zoey's mother has an interesting story and situation with her husband and I really hope they come back later in the series.

The audiobook version was a good choice for this book - I enjoyed hearing the Maine accent.
The lack of conclusion was a bit frustrating, but I'm surely fully intentional on the author's part
.
