Loved this one. Great fantasy story about our world and an alternate world full of mystical creatures and angels. I loved the main character and the supporting characters. I loved how she was able to travel around the world and how she spent her wishes. Can't wait to read the second book and learn more about the alternate world.

I really loved this historical fiction story. It starts in present day as an old lady grants an interview about what life was like during the London bombings of WWII. I like that the present day bits are few and far between. Once you are immersed in the past, it stays that way for a long time so you really get swept away in the main story.

This story is full of missed opportunities that wouldn't be so terrible if there hadn't been a war on. I got sucked right in and read it almost straight through. I gave it 5 stars because I love the story of the sisters and liked reading about the bombings through a child's eyes.

Well this was disappointing because I expected something along the lines of The Queen of the Tearling, which I really liked. This book dragged by and could have used some more editing. It seems that each plot line was only a set-up for one reason and then would fade away. The castle was attacked yet it only provides a reason for Sophia to be away when she discovers her magic. The Queen's only use to the story was to spark jealousy that was quickly gotten over. Too much time was spent on the insta-love of the relationship instead of the magic and danger. Also, way too many parties. Supposedly a large number of the court died in the attack, but there are three parties in one week.

I could go on and on. I may read the next book in the hopes that there's more action now that the first book has laid the groundwork.

Fast paced and full of action in a world where some people have special talents. I really loved the world he built and would have read faster if it wasn't art prize right now.

Interesting supernatural mystery set in 1920s London. The supernatural twist was that it involved mediums and psychics, who grew very popular after World War I when so many family members wanted to contact their lost loved ones. There was a lot of good information about how the fakers and quacks scammed people. Also, I did not guess who the murderer was, which is always a plus.
