So much I loved about this book!
- Swoony Patrick and big hearted and kind Lindy
- How Patrick's dad "Schitt's Creek"s a town called Sheet Cake
- Small town living and the fun people
- Marriage of convinence
- Sweet, smart, precocious 5 year old Jo
- Mental Health representation shown/done well
This book is so full of hilarity and heart. I'm always so excited to pick up a book by Emma!
The side characters may not have the spotlight but it's always so fun to see them around and interacting with our MCs. I love the cross over from the Love Cliches series and am excited for the next books in this series!

I admit... When I read Regency, it's usually a romance. Now this has that but it's more a mystery book.
Amelia has been a resident of a Mesmeric Hospital for several years due to "sleeping spells" when she is taken by surprise as her doctor makes her inheritor in his will. She must marry one of 2 men to interior and he's picked them out. Then the doctor dies.
The mystery of his death is taken upon to solve by Amelia and the doctor's solicitor Mr. Hawkins. I quite enjoyed the way this played out as mystery upon mystery is discovered and needs to be in uncovered. I like Angela. She has a strong head on her shoulders and she's level headed too. She knows how to judge a man's character very well.

This was an interesting apocalyptic fantasy set to mirror a bit of a Noah's Ark type of feel.
In this world, every 1000 years there are 10 storms. After all the storms, the world floods for 12 moons and the worry over the storms starts all over..... For those that make it through alive.
Natasha is the flyer who is being set to marry the King. Ella is the newest Flyer, she has a secret mission that no one knows about. She was once branded a Siren, a girl who likes girls. They are branded if caught.
My favorite part were the friendships of the Royal Flyers. These are girls who perform in silks high in the sky. They are guaranteed a spot on boats to survive the flood.... Until they are not. I really liked Ella. She is really smart.
Natasha will do what she thinks is best for her girls (as she calls the other Flyers) until she finds herself falling for Ella.
I thought this was a good debut but not as stunning as I had hoped. But the end makes me excited for more (if there are plans for more?)

Kate, an event planner, and Drake, a horror novelist, are set to meet to plan his newest book launch. I knew right away I was in for a fun ride. The book immediately had me laughing and drawn in to these characters lives.
Planning a horror writer's book launch is the last thing that Kate thought she would do but she takes on the challenge head-on... Pretty literally.
Drake is painted to be as horror like as the books he writes. Truth be told, he's a sweet and very shy, but down to earth guy. He also has a secret- to write outside his genre. Kate may be the key to help him do that.
Drake is just the sweetest! He's so humble, he helps veterans, he's a wonderful son and brother. I thought it was sweet how Kate was his muse.
This book was uber cute, funny, darling, and utterly bingeable!

This is a magical, coming of age fantasy middle grade story.
Prince Alphonsus is found in the walls of a palace as a baby. His new found mother, the Empress discovers he has a clock where his heart should be. And one day... It starts counting backwards.
A nearby village finds an onyx statue one day in the square. They send a young man to talk to it each day. Then they have the Prince do this and it moved for him and awakens.
A second story line has Esme, a magical Hierophant sent on a quest for the Nachfrau. She will meet Prince Alphonsus and they will help each other find the truths of their lives.
This was sweet. I've heard it's based on German folktales. There a lot of action and adventure but also some sadness and death. It never gets too scary or too deep so it's perfect for the grade level it's aimed at. I really like the concept of the Balance in magic!

I could not put this book down! I'm so mad at myself, I truly thought (and felt smug because I never guess right) I had everything figured out but was surprised by the turn of events that took away that smugness!
Chloe is the daughter of a convicted serial killer. She's about to get married to Daniel. She escaped her hometown when she could and never looked back, but when a couple of new girls go missing one after another in her new city, it brings back memories.
Chloe does a few things that don't make her look great, but I could understand a little of why she does what she does. I had doubts about her relationship with Daniel for most of the book. He was very suspicious to me.
I didn't see the ending coming. I'm happy that Chloe was able to do what she could at the end to right things. Incredible debut from the author! The short chapters make it a quick and very compelling read!

This was a very dark book!
Trigger warnings: abuse
Daphne seems to have it all. Rich beyond most people dreams and with a handsome, attentive husband Jackson by her side and 2 beautiful daughters. She only is missing the one thing she truly wants in her life, her sister who died from CF.
Along comes Amber. Amber who also lost a sister to CF and bonds with Daphne. Little does Daphne know how manipulative Amber really is.
This book with its 3 parts... Part 1 was full of seeing Amber play Daphne. Part 2 was gut wrenching finding out the truth of Daphne's life with Jackson, but also how clever she turns out to be. Part 3 exacts revenge in the best way for Daphne to escape hey life and books a new one. Your heart will break for Daphne and it will kind of laugh in Amber's face.

I loved this book a lot. I read it over the course of a couple weeks but only because I wanted to savor every moment!
I loved the dual timelines. Evelyn is such a fun character. She made me laugh at her antics and her brazenness. I love her spirit for life and for not following "rules" placed on her. She falls in love as a teen to a very not Jewish young man and has to keep it secret.
Her granddaughter, Jenna, is married to a guy who has stepped out on her and living with his new girlfriend. She takes up the chance to drive her grandma up to where her family spent summers.
I really liked the way Jenna found herself. I love that her grandma gave little bits of her history which includes a secret that no one knows. I like the Jewish rep and learning a little more about their faith and how it plays into family life.
If you loved For The Love of Friends, you will NOT want to miss this one!

Such a high fun adventure of a gender flipped Sleeping Beauty (where it's a prince that's asleep) and the girl needs to rescue him with a kiss.
Fi is a historian treasure hunter who pricks herself on the hidden Bone Spindle that put Prince Briar Rose under a sleeping curse. This circus hey to the price who she can't start seeing same talking to. But she has a hidden secret that she hasn't shared with anyone.
Shane is a girl on the run from her past who also treasure hunts. She keeps running into the mysterious Red who she starts falling for. She wields an ax like no one's business! She has to hide from and fight these witch hunters.
I loved every part of this! The action is crazy at times. There were too many (big) spiders for my liking though 😉 The way that Fi and Shane have to trust each other didn't start off well but at the end, they are both willing to die for each other.
The book has a great ending and I'm really excited for book 2!

This is a book of 3 friends that each have something huge going on in their life.
Annie- not very happy as a Pastor's wife and feels like she does it all for everyone and turns to a certain prescription to help her through.
Jo- contemplating divorce from her husband, even though he's a good man.
Sondra- being blackmailed for an indiscretion of hers when her much older husband stops giving her what she needs.
When Annie lands in the hospital, Jo and Sondra immediately drop everything to go to her. They end up going on a canoe/camping trip like they did when they were going. These best friends need to help each other through each of their struggles.
This book got a little preachy at the end which kind of turned me off as it wasn't prevalent in the beginning.
