challenging funny lighthearted medium-paced

Chris is an astronaut who sends videos to his socialite girlfriend Darcy even as she's falling for another man and getting engaged. When she hires Hallie to be her wedding planner, she accidentally sends gifts of these videos and Hallie watches them and sends him her own.

Then Hallie and Chris meet. There are sparks and they become friends and grow closer. But they have a lot of baggage. Hallie has pretty immature parents who keep putting her in the middle of their nasty after divorce lives. Chris deals with a father who had never taught him about his half Mexican heritage and tries to control his life.

I thought the book could have been paired down a bit especially with taking out a lot of the crap of Hallie's parents. Chris was kind of naive about his ex and that bugged me too. But overall, a solid read.

I was a little disappointed in this book after the first one. I thought we would get to explore the tentative relationship between Arthur and Finley... Except we get Arthur backtracking from it. They spend most of the first part ignoring each other and then trying to get to being just friends and just up and down that way throughout.

There are mean girls (Bronwyn) and bullying. I was glad when she especially was FINALLY called out! I enjoyed Petra as a new character who even though a bit odd meant to some (maybe) unintentional loud out loud moments.

I loved Hannah. She's dealt a rough hand.. Losing her father at a young age and then her mother to alcoholism which leads to an accident with her daughters and which leads their grandmother to be their guardian. Now she's the carer of her grandma and her sister Mary while working at a seaside resort.

Now there's a mysterious new hire, Guy, with good looks for days and an air of intrigue about him. He and Hannah are "put up" for the same promotion though Hannah had been working towards it for years.

I figured out a bit of Guy's story but there was even more to uncover. I did like how helpful he was to Hannah and her little family.

I am ready to continue the series because of what happens to Mary which I won't spoil but I can't believe what she'll have to deal with in her book!

This was a fun look at a late night sketch comedy show a là SNL called Live From New York. There's Emily who has always dreamed of hosting the Weekend Update and Chris who's an anchor of it with a terrible nepo boy co-anchor Alex.

I loved the Jewish rep, there's body positivity, there's funny moments with great jokes and much more.

Chris I had a hard time connecting with at first. Alex really did him dirty and Chris had a hard time coming out of that shell Alex put him in. I absolutely threw my fist up in the air at how Emily gets Alex fired (when she just meant to get him at least reprimanded) but it was still a great moment.

I can't wait to see what else comes from Chayla. She sent me the book and the opinions are my own.

What an absolute blast of a fake dating story.

Roxy, at the airport to pick up her best friend who she might be in love with, sees him with a girl in tow. They are engaged. So Roxy grabs the nearest guy (who caught her attention before) and kisses him saying he's her boyfriend. Turns out, it's Wade Hunter, a famous Footballer.

This leads them to fake dating. Both get something out of the deal. Roxy can win a contest for her magazine with Wade as the cover story and Roxy can help Wade a bit after a fight he got into.

I loved how awesome they were together right away. I love that Wade liked Roxy just as she is even when Roxy has body image issues she deals with. Wade is such a sweet guy and Roxy is a riot.
emotional sad slow-paced

This is my first read by Michelle and it won't be my last!
This is a book filled with such sadness but there's also a persevering presence in Nora. The times (1923, 1932, 1962/63) are hard to endure and can break a spirit of a person.

Gertie has her girls, Nora and Patsy, taken away because she is claimed to be a "prostitute". She just made a lot of poor choices regarding men. But she tried as hard as she could to get her girls back. Her circumstances just never seemed to work for her, only against her.

It's a bit hard for me to describe all I've felt while reading, but this is one HF fans will not want to miss!
mysterious tense fast-paced

The tension in this novel just propels it forward at breakneck speed and never lets up.

We start with a mysterious car crash. Then we move onto the story of Ashley, Daniel and their son Elliot. At Elliot's friend's birthday party, her mother is murdered and his dad Daniel is holding the weapon. He maintains his innocence and while hauled away for questioning, Ashley is left with many questions herself.

So she does something she has never done, she snoops. Ashley finds so many things Daniel has been hiding- in their marriage and their small business and with his family.

I had my suspicions, none of which were right, but I was utterly enraptured while it unravels. Another great novel by Campbell!

Charlie wrote a terrible romcom screenplay and Emma is sent in to help him. It's a big job and she has to leave her position as a caregiver for her dad that she's been doing the last 10 years.

I loved every minute of this! Charlie is a hoot and Emma is so fun. Logan plays a bit dirty but he got the job done!

The two MCs and their work ethic starts out rocky but ends up being great. They really compliment each other even if they don't see it.

I laughed out loud so much! I'm always amazed at Katherine's ability to have such a fun book but have serious issues for some characters too.

A few things like Charlie's fear for Emma to use his high dive when she had been a competitive swimmer and Emma having to put her foot down with Charlie are superb. One of my favorite quotes comes from her dad.. ""Choose a good, imperfect person who leaves the cap off the toothpaste, and puts the toilet paper roll on upside down, and loads the dishwasher like a ferret on steroids-and then appreciate the hell out of that person."

I swooned and squealed at the Jack cameos! He still is one of my most favorite persons from Katherine's books. He's just the sweetest ♥️
dark tense fast-paced

Very campy horror that is a fast read but was not too memorable.

Olivia and Reagan, two girls trying to find out why their lives are connected to murders at Camp Lost Lake. Olivia because of DNA mysteries and Reagan because she's been on the run with her mom who has been thought to have committed the crimes.

Present day the camp is being opened under a new name but the terror is still being brought down upon that who are there to open it.

I figured out a lot of things before they were revealed but it was interesting to find out why the missed were occurring. But the end felt really out there to me, like it really could not have happened that way.
