This book had me hooked right away. For being a #4 book in the Eddie Flynn series, it stoid well on its own. Great courtroom drama and I loved getting to know quite a bit about our serial killer! I was enthralled with how smart he was and the things he could imitate. I was thrown for a loop near the end of the book.... Great ending full of surprise.

Georgie and Travis' relationship was total fire! I loved these two. They both just really needed someone in their lives to make them seen and heard and to know they are worth something. Georgie is a little spitfire and I love the first few moments (as meeting again as adults) with Travis especially! She is hilarious and knows she'll take no crap from him. I love that Travis finally makes her family see her worth and I love that Georgie showed Travis that he doesn't have to be his dad- that he's a good person.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: drug use, sexual assault, inappropriate (to some) relationships

I so wanted to love this book, but I didn't. It's not as "magical realism" as I thought. It centers on a 17 year old (Xochi) running from her past. She becomes a "governess" to a 12 year old (Pallas) born into a rock star family and Xo falls for the said 12 year old's 29 year old father. Pal and Xo accidently summon creatures that come to stop the lives of who hurt Xo. There is also a cat narrator that is the voice of the "magical" creatures. Weird book

This book was so funny, witty, maddening and heartbreaking! I really liked Frank. He grew up in a Korean household and falls in love with a white girl, Brit. His parents would rather (and try to push together) him be with Joy who happens to be Korean. His parents are racist- they expect him to fall for a Korean girl and nothing else is acceptable. This shows in the case of their daughter Hanna- who falls in love with a black man. They mostly associate with other Korean families that they have been friends with. This creates a lot of tension in this family relationship. But there is a twist at the end that I didn't see coming with one of the other families that brings out an underlying issue.... There is even prejudices with people of your own race. I'm not sure that most people really think of that much.
I didn't really see how it was going to turn out with the plan that Frank and Joy came up with in order to date "outside their race" but it almost seems inevitable to me after finishing the book. Even after this thing happens, I didn't think it would end the way it did with them.
I was satisfied with the ending in regards to Frank and his relationship to his mom and dad. I think that what it really comes down to is that you want the best for the ones you love, even if "the best" is kind of skewed.

I liked this second book by T.M. Logan. This is very much a nod to the #metoo movement in recent news. It even mentions big players in the entertainment industry caught in it. Hawthorne is a major pig! It's unreal how much he got away with see all the people that turned away from it all. Poor Sarah. She's just trying to do the best for her kids and she has such a horrible boss. I can't believe her friend Marie and what she did behind Sarah's back. I was slightly disappointed in the end. But the book was written well and I did get through it easily.

Prepare to fall in love with Colin and Molly!
I enjoyed hearing all about the cases that were in this book. Molly, a sweet little rescue dog, is so amazing. Colin, dubbed the "pet detective" affectionately and not so affectionately sometimes, is a wonderful human being. He has a pure love of all animals but especially has a big place in his heart for rescues. Things don't always turn out well, there are multiple times where a cat just isn't found and a small brush with death for Molly, but Molly is a very highly successful finder of lost pets.
I love that most people that they encounter while trying to locate these cats and such are such nice people! Restores your faith in humanity a bit.

What an amazing debut!
Devon is dealing with a lot. A new baby and post-partum depression, a death of a friend- Belina with another friend-Alec accused of her murder and hearing voices. But she still has the know how from her life before motherhood and decides to investigate.
I liked trying to figure out the mystery of Belina's death, but more than that I enjoyed getting to know the real Devon and what's she's dealt with in her life. As we learn more about Devon and why she is hearing the voices, you really start to feel so bad for her.
I didn't expect the end to make me cry but it did. You find out something big that is just heartbreaking!

This is a beautiful book! One of the best dystopian set in the future books I've read!
This post-apocalyptic world is now mostly filled with water and most people live on boats. They make port (as few and far as they are between) to trade in what goods they have. Some are looking to set up new places to live and some are acting like pirates- pillaging and taking from anyone they encounter.
Our main character, Myra and her youngest daughter Pearl have been on their own for a long time. Myra is on the search for her older daughter who her husband ran off with when the floods started to come. They save a man, Daniel, who's boat was overthrown and then they find a big ship with a crew that become like family.
She gets the crew to decide on heading north against dangers from the floods and people when she hears her older daughter might be in a colony there.
I loved Myra and Pearl. Pearl has only known life in the floods and is plenty resourceful. Myra slowly finds herself and what she's capable of during the course of the story. Myra is a good mother.
Good debut and looking forward to more by this author!

Poor Ellie is constantly bullied in her high school. She tries to escape that by writing fanfiction. It's her solace. One day, she is recused by Ky in a highly unusual situation.
I liked that Ellie was so disbelieving throughout the whole book of what Ky represented..... Even as she kept getting to see the truth throughout.
I was particularly interested in this book being set in Greece which is pretty cool. The blend of Little Mermaid and Greek mythology was very well put together.

I loved this book which is a book about authors but is also so much more!
I loved getting to learn about "penny dreadfuls" -stories for the lower classes. I loved that Sarah included the two main characters stories within this story.
I love everything about Fletcher Walker! Having, himself, come from the "gutter" and his helping get other street urchins away from horrible situations with the Dread Penny Society. I loved that it was his reason of writing these stories- to help fund his cause.
Elizabeth Black was a fun, witty, and driven female lead. I loved that she wrote penny dreadfuls as Mr. King, it being her true passion, all the while still writing her more accepted silver fork novels. All this to be able to help her girls school to educate those girls that may not have had a chance elsewhere.
I liked the dynamic of Fletcher and Elizabeth's slow but beautifully growing love story.
