TRIGGER WARNINGS: drug use, sexual assault, inappropriate (to some) relationships

I so wanted to love this book, but I didn't. It's not as "magical realism" as I thought. It centers on a 17 year old (Xochi) running from her past. She becomes a "governess" to a 12 year old (Pallas) born into a rock star family and Xo falls for the said 12 year old's 29 year old father. Pal and Xo accidently summon creatures that come to stop the lives of who hurt Xo. There is also a cat narrator that is the voice of the "magical" creatures. Weird book
