Bailey is a smart tech genius and she's just had an attempted kidnapping happen to her. She then finds out her childhood idol is actually her dad and she's being whisked away to stay at his mansion. If that's not enough, she finds out she has 3 half siblings! She will also be guarded by Kash, a mystery hottie that seems to hold sway over them all!
Kash and Bailey and their relationship made the book for me. There's always this tension between the two and when they cross that line- it's just sexy and fun. Bailey is so freaking smart, which she gets from her dad but also puts her in the cross hairs of some sketchy people.
I read this book in a day! There is so much dirty secrets in the world of the filthy rich that I'm glad (just like Bailey) that she didn't grow up in this world. But it will be interesting to see where the next two books take us and I'm ready!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
My daughter and I love this book! The illustrations are so gorgeous. The story showed how important it is to work together towards a common goal. The importance of friendship.
The real locations in China that are in the book makes me want to visit them all. Beautiful words are used to describe each place and the back of the book tells you a little more about them.

Beautiful story about 20 something Naomi, a Japanese-Tawainese woman moved from New York to Shanghai with her fiancee to work at a World Expo. Her friend Joss, is a Shanghai socialite with a new husband and a secret. We meet a whole cast of characters from different backgrounds in this beautiful city.
I loved Naomi. She has a tough go sometimes from the prejudice of the Chinese people against her heritage but I think she navigates it well.... Even when it hurts. She has a relationship with Dante and even has to deal with prejudice from his parents and family.
I love all the wonderful descriptions of the many places we get to journey to and the food descriptions of the cuisine. I felt sad about all the prejudices you see in this culture. I had no idea until I read this book.

This book was like watching an episode of ER (which I recently binge watched again!)
Dr. Jackson works in the ER. One day, his world is turned upside down and he becomes a bit broken. He moves to a new hospital and keeps his family life a secret from everyone there.
His wife is horrible and hates him and his only bright spots are his daughter BJ and his fellow ER doctors and nurses. (One of which he plays a game of chess with-a move a shift.)
I would want to be treated by Dr Jackson if I needed it. He's such a kind man. I love the supporting characters Elizabeth and Sergei. What Dr Jackson does for Sergei in the end is so wonderful and made me tear up.
This was a fabulous start to what I think is going to be a great series!

7 years ago, the King destroyed Lei's life when her mother is taken (and thought killed). Now they are back, for her. The girl with the gold eyes that intrigue the King. She is to become a Paper Girl.
Lei is a Paper caste. The lowest caste in the kingdom. There are also Steel castes (humans with demon partial animal forms) and Moon castes (fully demon animal forms).
There is a trigger warning at the beginning of the book that I fully appreciate. Paper Girls are meant to train as concubines to the King. You can imagine that not all Paper girls will stand for this. But also the King will not care. I also appreciate the LGBTQIA+ representation. Lei and Wren are a beautiful love story. Wren also has a plan, a plan that can bring the kingdom to its knees.
This book is a fantasy lovers dream, I think! The world is well built and you get enough background into the world even as the action just keeps pulling you along.
The book is beautifully set up for the second in the series.

Heather returns to her home after her mother commits suicide and she has spent so many years away.
A man known as The Red Wolf had been locked in prison for murders he claims to be innocent of. But Heather discovers that her mother had been writing to him in prison.
Fiddler's Mill is like a breeding ground for serial killers. It's just a creepy place that others call a commune. The pace is pretty slow for a thriller, I thought.
There are a few surprises at the end of the book but nothing that made me gasp, just think "ok so that's what it is"

This was a really sweet LGBTQIA+ story about Lara, a high school senior. She's been crushing on Chase (a really good guy), the football quarterback for as long as she (and a lot of people) can remember.
But the summer before senior year, she is at the beach with her mom at her mom's boss's beach house along with his daughter Jasmine. Lara has a summer fling with Jasmine and when the school year starts-Jasmine is there.
I liked seeing Lara and how she is figuring out who she is and wants to be. I love that she's a bookish girl who loves romances . She starts dating Chase while still crushing on Jasmine and I like that she isn't quite sure how to define herself but that she's ok with it. I like the Jewish representation in the book through Jasmine and her mom.
I read this YA book in one sitting and it just brought a smile to my face. I really enjoyed it.
(Also, through this book I learned that the book title is a Demi Lovato song)

I would recommend reading book 1 because this didn't read so well as a standalone. There is a lot of information that I feel like I'm missing because I didn't read book 1.
This follows Claire, a lover of the poet Lord Byron. She had a child from their affair, Allegra, that Lord Byron takes away from Claire and puts into a convent. (Supposedly to keep her from harm).
I guess Claire found in book 1 that her daughter died, but is told by her friend Trelawney that she might be alive. Claire's place is then burgled and a piece of art taken and this sets Claire is to find who took it and to find out sale what really happened with her daughter.
I wouldn't have read this if I knew I might be quite lost but it was ok. It was a really quick read because it comes under 200 pages so it's like a novella.

This novel will pull at your heartstrings in so many different ways.
Jessica is a mother that has her children pulled from her in a messy trial with her ex. She is struggling to get her townhome fixed up. She meets 5 elderly women at a sustainable community they live at. She finds she needs to hear their stories and learn from them.
The 5 women are such a joy to be around! They have led such different lives but they all have led good ones and Jessica learns a lot from them. She learns to get in touch with her kids again. I fell in love with all these characters.
The ending gave me a punch to the gut that I didn't expect so make sure to have tissues handy at the end!

I love this dual timelines story. We have Eva and Precious-2 models working in England in 1939. We also have Madison (a relation somehow to Precious) in 2019-writing a story on Precious and her modeling days. Maddie also comes back in contact with a guy (Colin) she once dated.
What we get is a mystery. Precious is holding something back same Maddie is determined to give it what it is.
The 2 timelines are such seamless transitions they really helps the flow of the novel. I enjoyed both timelines. At some point, I figured out a bit of the mystery... Maybe not so early but before it's revealed. I liked getting to learn why this certain thing had to happen.
I probably loved the timeline in the WW2 era more but both are so good.
