I liked the struggles the characters had to face. We again get a lot of the character's internal struggle. I liked how the problems in the monarchy translate to real life, like the conversation Inan has with his mother the queen. I thought some decisions the characters made were extremely out of character for them and didn't make sense. I thought Zelie and Tzain should have had more one on one conversations. The ending was pretty abrupt and the twist in the last 5 pages really threw me. I feel like she's just writing a third book because of a contract. I feel like it would have made sense to end it on this book.

I love Ada Limon's poetry. In her poems she talks about nature, family, her struggles with pregnancy, and feminism. I thought the contrast between her poems about being alone and her poems where she mentions her man was really cool. I want to buy all her books and analyze the hell out of them

The poems were good and I liked the pages that showed her poetry drafts when she was younger. Rhyming poems aren’t my favorite though and I wonder what her poems would look like if she strayed away from rhyming more often.

This book was very informative and accessible. Radke has thoroughly researched butts from bustles to Buns of Steel workout videos to twerking. I was amazed at how much the perception of butts is and has been related to race and social class. Such a good read, I’ll definitely have to buy this one!!

This was such a good collection! Great poems about justice, love, feminism, and childhood. I will be giving this book to my friends and tell them they should read it. I loved how Gibson snuck some humor into some of their poems, it surprised me and made me laugh out loud. Loved the self awareness too.
Moderate: Sexual assault
Minor: Police brutality
Gibson has some poems in this collection about her SA and mentions people who were killed by police.

The quotes were good, Gibson is a fantastic poet. However, I feel like this was created to appeal to the instapoetry scene. The book is formatted so that its really easy to find a quote, take a pleasing picture, and post it on Instagram. I would have rather read one of their books with Gibsons full poems in it.

I wasn't into this book at first but after reading a few more poems I was really into it! Sax talks about gender, mental health, suicide, sex, and buttholes. I highly recommend picking this one up!
Minor: Rape, Suicide, Suicide attempt
There are some poems that imply rape or sexual assault. There are also some poems that talk about suicide and suicide attempts.
