This comic manages to tell a story that is both abstract and meaningful, through the adventures of only a few characters presented to us with simplistic context.
The art is strange but captivating, and uses a minimalist color palette to display many different and unique plants and creatures that flowed through each page with an unsettling beauty.
Although the featured jungle is deadly, I can wholly understand why one would look past its imminent danger to explore the oddities it holds.

This was a very energetic and engaging series with characters that were easy to grow attached to, and I would love to read more about them and the aspects of their life away from dodgeball that were only briefly touched upon so far.
My only compliant is in regards to Huck's place in the series, almost all of his hearing friends were uninterested in communicating with him when they didn't deem it to be useful or necessary, which made them seem rather callous. I was relieved their inconsiderate behavior was touched upon but still felt saddened reading the multiple scenes where Huck's teammates talked among themselves without even attempting to include him.
With that criticism in mind I still enjoyed reading this book and hope the Jazz Pandas will be given another chance to become winners!

I chose to read this trade on a whim since I'd heard of the television show and actually became much more invested in it than expected, which was a welcome surprise.
Many defining elements from the aforementioned show aren't present here, so if you're hoping to read content that expands upon its episodes you may be disappointed. However, I found these issues to be unquestionably interesting and holding an open mind towards them will likely pay off.
The main focus in this volume rests on worldbuilding and introducing important characters and creatures, so many questions are still left lingering to be answered later. The reading experience was still satisfying in spite of what went unresolved, and I was particularly engrossed by the explanation as to how these supernatural species came to be, along with the twists involving the primary mysteries.
I am excited to see where this story goes, and while my original plan was not to read further in the series I now definitely will.

Unfortunately I was unable to truly enjoy reading this volume, due to the unneeded complexity of multiple new characters and plotlines being introduced at once. There were so many different ideas to focus on that I struggled to grasp any of them, which is a shame since if written at a better pace I'm sure that I would be more interested in continuing the series.
