I liked this more than I thought I would after reading some of the reviews. I loved the fact that Susan really was a cactus. I wanted to delve more into her character, I feel like we only scratched the surface. Also, why people were drawn to her when she seemed so negative and standoffish. I wonder if most of it was just in her head? I mean, of course she was a cactus. Look at her past, look at her present. Anyways, I felt happy upon completion, so much better than I anticipated.
This book was just what I needed to lighten up my mood. I love this series. I love that even though these are romance novels, that the premise is friendship and girl power. Woman who are seeing each other through a really dark time.
I would have liked more steamy scenes. This second book in the series was lacking a bit of heat.
I can't wait for the third!

I did enjoy this retelling of sorts of a fairytale. I guess I just wanted more between Fyel and Maire. I wanted more romance, more mystery, more. Just more. I was heartbroken when Maire finally remembered what she had done and what exactly she is/was.
I loved the epilogue. What a great wrap up.
I guess the middle of the story just plodded along for me. I wanted to read it in a rush, but just couldn't.

I am enjoying this series. It is very predictable, but with enough action, twists and romance, makes for a pleasurable read. I enjoy most of the characters and like watching them evolve.
Just what I needed right now. Light fan fiction with a relatable romance and wonderful characters.
Totally felt autobiographical at times. The struggle in this book is real. I could feel in come through the pages in almost every character, yet the book also felt light and was humorous at times. You could absolutely see how the characters got to these really deep and in most cases, sad places in their lives. Yet, they had so much to live for and so much support, they just needed to set outside themselves to see it. I wanted the book to be a bit lighter than it was, just because of how gloomy everything is right now in the world. But, I did enjoy this read and possible glimpse into Ms. Zigman's life.
