I have mixed emotions about this book, but I definitely had trouble putting it down. Really well written.

Spoiler This book was really about the struggle between "letting" someone die and letting them make their own decision about their own life.

It's easy to say "this is the right thing to do" for either side of the argument, but life's not just that simple. Everyone has a right to their own decision and ultimately to lead life the way they want. That being said, accidents and decisions affect many people, thus making everything more complex.

However, in terms of plot I was not surprised by any of this. I think it was a very predictable plot and I could have probably written a synopsis after only a couple of chapters. I don't know how else it could have gone without being completely far-fetched, but I do feel a little let down. That being said, I think the characters are great and the writing is beautiful and really well done. I'm having a little trouble with what I want to "rate it".

I agree with what some others have brought up, that the "romance" seems a little twisted and un-realistic. I don't want to say that because I know love can happen in all different crazy scenarios. However, it almost felt like Patrick was added as a bad boyfriend in order to force Lou to love Will. That is the part that almost felt too forced for me.

Not at all what I expected. What a frustrating and anger filled book. I hated the story and yet could not put it down. What a strange combination. I think it's written to make you angry with it, but intrigued at the same time.
Spoiler Amy is so obsessed with winning instead of being happy or living her life. I know she's upset about being cheated on but by setting up her husband she's essentially murdering him. So how is he the only bad guy. She's a psycho. I know it's said in the book but she really really is. So delusional it's almost hard to read. And Nick I hated him too! Ugh he was pathetic and seemed to have no personality. If he had been smarter with the police I think he would have got her, but he can't get it together. The story was so smart and manipulative. I just don't like stories where I can't stand the characters. I wanted some justice for someone at the end! Like all the people being played with. I have such mixed feelings still.

Amazing as always. This is my third time reading this book and it gets better and better. I absolutely loved Mr Bennett this time around and his sassy and humor gave the story another added dimension!

I love this book even more than the first time around. Jane Austen's writing is both beautiful and quirky. Some of the random details she includes (via her characters) have me chuckling. She can write the most heartbreaking scenes and also the most ludicrous or banal characters. I love how many misunderstandings there were and the way that JA wove the story together. Most of the characters seemed over the top, with Eleanor as a level headed constant among them all. I love the ending and all the characters (even the ones I despise). Highly recommend this classic!

Yes! This is the best Steph Plum novel of the past couple books (in my opinion). It had a great mix of Moreilli and Ranger, thought I would always enjoy seeing more of them. Lula was involved a bunch (favorite character) and everyone was up to their usual tricks.
Spoiler Steph's life is in danger as usual, Moreilli wants her to quit her job, Lula is eating everything in sight and trying to shoot people...everything is right in this world. Two action packed events near the end where everything goes off with a BANG. I really enjoyed the "mystery" in this one with patients disappearing from the hospital and going to the mysterious Clinic. I was very intrigued. I really enjoyed this quick read and can't wait for the next one. I hope this series never ends.

Another really good and thrilling Eve Dallas mystery. She is an awesome character and those around her (Roarke, Peabody, Feeney) are pretty amazing too. I love Roarke and would steal him for myself if I could. I
Spoiler was suspicious of Reeanna from the beginning. Her theories at lunch about how a person is "programmed" to be a certain way just didn't sit right with me and I kept thinking of her as Eve investigated. This was a seriously messed up and smartly developed mystery.

The audiobook narration is awesome! I recommend it.

I am starting to really enjoy this series. The futuristic aspect is the perfect amount to make it interesting to read about, but without overwhelming the police/mystery aspect. I love Eve and Roarke as characters, though Eve's stubbornness can get on my nerves. I hope she can learn to trust him.

As for the mystery it was very intriguing and took a while to figure out. There were so many possible angles and Eve did an awesome job of looking at the murders many different ways. My theory from about 70% through the book was
Spoilerthe reporter Morse. But I wasn't firm on it and I kind of thought that would be way too ridiculous. But, that would explain why he always had the early scoop of the murders and was always there to report on it. He obviously wanted to help his career and was annoyed these women were getting in his way. And he seems to be a good actor.

I'll definitely continue the series.

Note: The audiobook narrator was awesome and I'd love to hear more of this series with her.

One of my favorite Agatha Christie novels!

The way Miss Marple describes Bertram's Hotel; the same as it had been in her childhood and bringing back wonderful feelings and memories...this is how I felt reading this book again (and all AC books truly). It also cracks me up that the hotel has "special prices" for older ladies so they can set the scene for old British society for the travelers.
Spoiler It almost seems like that desription was a hint to the readers, now that I have finished it; the hotel really was a set stage, but for something much more sinister and truly brilliant.
I've read a lot of modern cozy mysteries, but none of the characters trumps Miss Marple. She is the original nosy civilian and she does an amazing job of solving crimes simply by observation. But unlike
Spoiler Bertram's Hotel, this novel is not too good to be true. I did not suspect Bess at all and I CERTAINLY didn't think she would confess to save her daughter. Miss Blake did seem pretty tricky and it all made came together in the end.
It was so interesting and tricky and so many red-herrings. I loved it. This is my second reading and I didn't remember at all what the ending was like.

This was one of my least favorite AC books. I wasn't really attached to any of the characters and got many of them confused when I heard their names. Though it is an intriguing idea, I just didn't like the way it jumped from the mystery to the police all of a sudden having the answer. For some reason, when Poriot or Miss Marple make inquires and find the solution "out of thin air" it seems more believable. But in this novel, I just wasn't convinced, especially as the Police were not even really involved until the end. It was a good idea to have the black magic involved
Spoiler and used as a coverup for a simple poisoning crime. I definitely didn't see the ending coming or even suspect the murderer. Also Mrs Oliver was barely in this novel and definitely didn't seem that important of a character in the solving of this mystery. Though she is a fun character.
Enjoyable, but not my favorite.
