Words ... They cannot do justice to this book.
And what's funny is I'm not a big fan of lying books. Obviously this is an exception.
Maybe because of Jaron. He's so witty and silly and smart and amazing and therejustaren'tenoughwordsinthevocabularytoexpresshisawesomeness. He does so many stupid things yet somehow always manages to scrape through. He thinks everything through with such delicacy and thoroughness and I often don't even realize he's planned it.
Not to mention the plot .... whew! Such intensity! Running off on his own? The thieves and pirates ... In the middle of a very slap happy bunch.
This book kept me up till 1:15. It's the first book in quite a while that has dragged me thick under its spell. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment. Thank you Jennifer! You are my new favorite author.

Reread: I wish I could give this more than 5 stars! Such a masterpiece.
5 stars for the Odyssey, 3 for translation, so I settled on four.
I felt the translation could have been much better. I grew up listening to Mary Pope Osborne’s children’s version, so I guess I was used to more fluid language. It sounded so modern most of the time, and I only was able to admire the poetry in about three instances.
The Odyssey itself, however, was a fantastic story and a wild ride! Everyone needs to read it at least once in their life. Odysseus is a stubborn, arrogant, but brilliant hero, and tagging along with him is sure to promise some adventure in his battles with cyclopses, sirens, evil suitors, and the gods themselves.
