Would have given it a three, but the narrative style just didn't click with me and was ultimately distracting. The injection of a script format really didn't help the story move along and all the character asides were either unnecessary or could have been worked into the main narrative.

Now you may be asking, did I pick up this book for the sheer pun alone? Why yes, yes I did. Of course, when you pick out books based solely on this factor, you run a real gamble of whether you're really going to like the book or not. Fortunately this book is worth a solid....meh?

It definitely has the tone and voice of the original, but it's too unadventurous. It doesn't really do anything too shocking or subversive. I mean, it's good that it feels like something that would happen in the world RLS crafted but something should be done to spice it up a bit more.

Mystery usually isn't my genre, unless there's some sort of paranormal aspect of it. Really, the main reason I was drawn this book was the sheer novelty of it. It reads like a Biden/Obama bromance fanfic and that's really what it is. Still, it was very enjoyable in how bizarre it can get with situations like

-Biden and Obama infiltrating a biker den
-Biden having a dartboard with Bradley Cooper's face on it since he's been hanging with Obama
-Biden mostly acting like a jilted lover throughout the majority of the book since Obama hasnt' been spending time with him since they left office
-And, the best for last, Biden dreaming about Obama coming to him on a unicorn while wearing a toga

If any of those scenarios/mental pictures brought a smile to your face, this book is definitely worth reading. I can only hope there's going to be a sequel.

I wouldn't call this a magical read, or even a particularly fantastic one. It was more cozy than anything else. While this story is one I've definitely heard before, a marvelous man with powers that changes the lives of those around him, it still managed to interest me.

It didn't have a grand plot or tried to say anything particularly profound. It has a simple story and just ran with it. I wish Weylyn was a bit more interesting with his characterization. He's kind of like the archetype of this character and nothing more: kind, polite, but slightly afraid of the power within him. He didn't anger me or anything. I wish wish he stood out a bit more.

If you're looking for something simple and harmless to read, this would be a good book to turn to.

At first, I started to feel a little guilty about giving this story a two star rating, but this was forgotten when I reminded myself what these stars stand for. I found that this book was just okay; I neither liked it nor disliked it. It's an interesting premise, to say the least, but I felt like it wasn't explored enough. This book does have a good body, but there is no meat to it, no detail. I know this was intended to be a short story, though I can think of a few others of this aspect that had more detail.

Also, I felt very disconnected with these characters. They don't go through any kind of development. They don't learn anything about themselves or each other, other than their relationship. They just seemed so stagnant to me.
