Brokeback Mountain
by Annie Proulx
At first, I started to feel a little guilty about giving this story a two star rating, but this was forgotten when I reminded myself what these stars stand for. I found that this book was just okay; I neither liked it nor disliked it. It's an interesting premise, to say the least, but I felt like it wasn't explored enough. This book does have a good body, but there is no meat to it, no detail. I know this was intended to be a short story, though I can think of a few others of this aspect that had more detail.
Also, I felt very disconnected with these characters. They don't go through any kind of development. They don't learn anything about themselves or each other, other than their relationship. They just seemed so stagnant to me.
