This was an interesting read. I liked the story but didn't really like the main characters. This is an old book so in my opinion it doesn't age well. Not a huge fan of some of the things that were talked about or the way they were talking about. While I won't be continuing the series, I will be watching the film adaptation.

I definitely don't like the main character but I enjoyed the ride. I will definitely try to continue the series. I'm interested to see where it goes from here

I had an arc of this from NetGalley

I enjoyed this one so much more than the first book. Maybe because their was more action and the stakes were higher but I had a great time reading it.

I can't speak to the representation of of the orishas or the lore but I had an enjoyable reading experience. A lot of exciting twists and turns. If you enjoyed the first one I definitely recommend that you continue the series!

I will say though - and I feel this way about most YA fantasies with a romance subplot -
there were times when the romance was a little annoying cause there were more important things happening. I also was annoyed with the way that Kola and Simi were reunited. Yeah I get that you're upset with her for leaving the way she did but maybe show a little gratitude for her risking it all to save your life.... TWICE.
  Just sayin

This was me giving Kosoko Jackson a second chance after I DNFd I'm So Not Over You at 5% at the beginning of this year.

I am so glad that I read this book. I absolutely loved it and I highly recommend it to everyone.

I loved the characters in this book. Jamal, Catherine, and Marco are all great and it was impossible not to root for them. I also loved Janna.

While it doesn't necessarily end with the HEA that you might be hoping for, the ending was still so satisfying

I have seen other reviewers complain about the dialogue and they may be right but because I listened to the audio I didn't really care

This one was much more exciting than the first. I'm excited to see how it all ends.

I enjoyed this so much! It is a LOT of information to take in so I'm glad I did a hybrid read (physical and audio)

I'm a sucker for a good plot twist and there were so many things that I didn't see coming here. After finishing I immediately bought book 2!

The only thing that I didn't love was
the romance. I felt like it was unnecessary and got in the way of all of the action that was happening.  I also can't root for them to be together cause he fucked her sister. Yeah she tricked him and put on her face but the fact that he had already been told that they couldn't be together because he's part craven should have been a large enough clue by itself for him to realize that it wasn't really her or at least that something was off.

I was surprised that
Efiya killed both Arti and Oshhe. I figured it would happen with Arti but Oshhe was a surprise.

Now that Efiya is dead - allegedly- I'm interested to see where the story goes from here

This was okay. I'm not a fan of daddy/dirty little slut but if you are you'll definitely like this.

The audiobook on Scribd skipped so I missed the part where
  they actually get caught

I randomly found this on Scribd and decided to give it a listen. The audiobook is only 3 hours at regular speed.

This was cute and quick, so a little instalovey.

Some things that I didn't like include that even though
Amit and his fiance both wanted out of their arranged marriage he never shared that with Aarti and it was weird because it seemed like he was willing to cheat and that she was willing to be the other woman. Also, in the epilogue, Aarti is pregnant but she never once expressed that she wanted children at al so that was a little shocking
