I had an arc of this from NetGalley
I enjoyed this one so much more than the first book. Maybe because their was more action and the stakes were higher but I had a great time reading it.
I can't speak to the representation of of the orishas or the lore but I had an enjoyable reading experience. A lot of exciting twists and turns. If you enjoyed the first one I definitely recommend that you continue the series!
I will say though - and I feel this way about most YA fantasies with a romance subplot - there were times when the romance was a little annoying cause there were more important things happening. I also was annoyed with the way that Kola and Simi were reunited. Yeah I get that you're upset with her for leaving the way she did but maybe show a little gratitude for her risking it all to save your life.... TWICE. Just sayin
