this was so so good and i loved it so much more than i expected to!

it’s a story full of glorious tropes (slow burn, only one bed, frenemies (kind of) to lovers and so many more)

this book doesn’t shy away from talking about the harder topics and particularly dives into grief and abusive parents (not physically abusive but the emotional side is just as important) and it discusses mental health so wonderfully!

it was gentle and sweet and harsh when it needed to be. it was pretty quick to get through but i really enjoyed taking this one a little slow! highly recommend <33

this was so boring. i hated the characters, hated the story and couldn’t be invested in any of the relationships :( i also really struggled with the writing, so much of it just felt cringey and very 2012. i didn’t really have any positive feelings towards it so i gave up 👍

i don’t like the little mermaid but i adore ft lukens writing :,)

i didn’t really enjoy this one and was quite bored throughout? i was kind of hoping and expecting a lot more from it after loving ‘so this is ever after’ but it also wasn’t bad- just quite simple

this book really should have been marketed differently.

whilst i absolutely adored the last 100 pages the first 200 were so slow to get through 😭

this isn’t a romcom - the romance was rushed and the focus wasn’t really on it at all. they just u-hauled the entire relationship. and scenes went by so so quickly when it just needed time to savour them and add more to the story, if that makes sense?

this is an absolutely beautiful love letter to armenian culture and owning your identity, and if it was marketed as that (and then further expanded in this direction) i really think i would’ve enjoyed it more <3

if you’re looking for a sapphic romance, there are better ones out there. but if you’re looking for a story that explores culture and being queer and finding your place in the midst of it all that just so happens to have a sapphic romance you might enjoy this more!

this was fun! the characters themselves didn’t have a lot of substance but i enjoyed it for what it was :)

i really enjoyed the premise but the execution was lacking a little bit!

this was so so sweet and lovely and warm and everything i’d hoped it would be 🥲 just something entirely cozy with a dash of angst here and there <3

this was a solid sequel!

i would have loved for so many aspects from book one to be further expanded on here but most of them unfortunately weren’t. i think the plot is what let this one down a bit for me! it felt very filler and very middle book, not much really happened? and there weren’t plot twists, you knew what the plot twists were way before they happened so it wasn’t exactly twisty

but these characters and this world will always have me coming back and falling in love <3 im very excited to see what comes next, i just wish it follows the pace of book 1 a little more!

and honestly? could’ve been longer

whilst i ended up loving this i really didn’t at first!

i think this book falls victim to the over saturation of the ya fantasy market as it just felt like i was reading every other ya fantasy i’ve ever read. initially it followed a bland plotline full of clichés, and tropes that i don’t personally enjoy and characters (besides bree) who i found insufferable. they all grew on me bu the end but it took a whileee

but when it picked up it really picked up!! and i really enjoyed reading towards the end, very excited to see how this story continues in bloodmarked!

i loved the conversations around grief and race and feminism, that were all talked about so fluidly and gracefully. also! a queer normative world is always wonderful! (this has very good basis for polyamory, just saying)
