whilst i ended up loving this i really didn’t at first!
i think this book falls victim to the over saturation of the ya fantasy market as it just felt like i was reading every other ya fantasy i’ve ever read. initially it followed a bland plotline full of clichés, and tropes that i don’t personally enjoy and characters (besides bree) who i found insufferable. they all grew on me bu the end but it took a whileee
but when it picked up it really picked up!! and i really enjoyed reading towards the end, very excited to see how this story continues in bloodmarked!
i loved the conversations around grief and race and feminism, that were all talked about so fluidly and gracefully. also! a queer normative world is always wonderful! (this has very good basis for polyamory, just saying)
