If you're looking for a tearjerker, look no further than this book. This is a raw depiction of grief and losing a parent at a young age. Tyler recounts the events of her mother's cancer when she started college through illustrations, we learn about who Rhonda Feder was and what legacy she left behind before her passing. This was a humorous yet dark graphic memoir about a young girl losing her mother to cancer. It is a graphic depiction of grief and what I loved most was how Feder shared every aspect of grief with us especially the page on "Dos and Donts for Dealing with a Grieving Person". Though this memoir does share Feder's experience with grief, it also shares tips on how to help someone who is grieving which I really appreciated.
Feder is also Jewish and shares how the mourning and grieving process is done in Jewish culture.

This book made me sob but also reflect on my own personal grief.  So, if you're looking for a good cry or a good book about grief, I recommend this! I did read the graphic novel but also listened to the audiobook and would recommend both.

CW: Fatphobia, emotional abuse, HP references, conversations about homophobia

I loved the message in this book! Skye is a character that many fat girls can look up to. I really appreciated the conversations about Korean heritage and how fatphobia and homophobia play a role in the older generations. The reality TV aspect was very interesting as well. I liked how You're My Shining Star focused on dance and singing! I love books with competition shows and this one did not disappoint. I also don't have a lot of knowledge about K-Pop, so it was nice to learn a little about it! I listened to the audiobook and I would recommend it. The narrators do a great job of giving every character their own voice.

However, there were way too many HP references for my liking. I was getting very fed up with the repetitive references. I would recommend this because Skye's story is very important! But for any of my trans friends, go into it knowing there's going to be a lot of HP mentions.

A great #ownvoices picture book about a Latinx transgender prince coming out to his parents, The King and Queen, and how they communicate to make The Prince more comfortable in his body. This is a wholesome story that many trans kids and parents alike will appreciate as it shows how to be there for your child when they express their feelings of gender identity.

Incredible audiobook and a powerful young adult novel about HIV through the lens of three different gay men at different stages in their life in Brazil. I love character-driven books and the way the characters developed throughout the novel was excellent. As much as this is a serious book, there is also comic relief and I was laughing out loud at Victor's family members. Loved this so so much.

What an excellent coming out story about a young girl who wants to hide her sexuality until she meets a selkie who changes her life. This is a beautiful story of first love and coming to terms with your identity. I just really wish it was longer!

A fantastic, stunning children's picture book about a dark-skinned girl, Sulwe who is mocked and teased for her dark skin and learns to see the beauty in her skin through the story of two sisters: Day and Night. Loved this so much!

I love having a gender non-conforming character in a children's book. This rep is so important and I value that so much! However, this was just okay for me! I would recommend it if you're looking to read more children's picture books with trans rep and a trans kid being magical is epic.

This was okay! I tended to skim a bit because it felt redundant at parts but it's very relatable as a reader and a writer. I found myself laughing at parts because they hit close to home!
