Out of all the books, I felt most uncomfortable with this one. The amount of sex that was written in made me feel like I wasn't reading a Young Adult novel, but rather full porn. There is nothing wrong with porn, but when I'm going in for a romantic fantasy young adult novel, that is what I want.

The first thing that threw me off is how suddenly Tamlin changed. I personally, did not see his abusive side coming. I never liked him and thought he was boring and annoying, but to see him suddenly become so abusive felt like it came out of left field. It felt forced, as just a way to get rid of him because Sarah Maas changed her mind about the character. It felt like she originally wanted Fey to get with him, but then she fell in love with Rhys and needed to find a way to get rid of Tamlin, so she made him suddenly abusive.

In addition, I thought it was completely wrong that we are supposed to praise Rhys for sleeping with the Queen, but punish Tamlin for the same thing. It is completely unfair. People love Rhys for doing the same thing Tamlin did, but punish Tamlin. Plus, Rhys says he knew they were mates, but kept his distance, which is a lie. He was constantly in Fey's business and trying to seduce her in the first book. He didn't stay away for her happiness; he was constantly trying to change her mind about Tamlin, who, I don't want people to forget, I don't like.

I also found it disgusting that we are supposed to praise Fey for cheating on Tamlin because Rhys is her mate. While we didn't find that out until later, it still was suddenly "OK" to cheat? I am not ok with cheating no matter what. It is so easy to end things since she is completely safe with Rhys. It made me feel like Sarah J. Maas get somehow turned on by cheating, and it just, sadly, disgusts me.

People tried to sway me into thinking Rhys is a good person because of the company he kept, but everyone loved Tamlin in the first book. I am just so confused about why people are so obsessed with this book and think it is any form of good literature.

Again, I did like the writing and I do enjoy the world, but the characters are... for lack of better words, disgusting. They are poorly written and only sexually driven.

I find this book slightly forgettable. I remember reading it and the plot, but nothing much. I picked it up because my other books were on hold at the library and this one was up for grabs. I decided to give it a chance, and I certainly don't regret it, but I don't love the series.

It certainly has an interesting plot. The time travel caught my attention. However, I did have some issues with some of the plot points. I didn't enjoy how there was a forced kiss at the beginning and then the characters become love interests. As a whole, I'm not a fan of that trope. It is overdone and allows for no consent, and consent is very important to me. I know consent wasn't as important decades/a century ago, but I don't feel like we should slip back into bad habits for the story. We should avoid it and tell a good story without old cliches.

Other than that, I think I'd give the other books in this series a chance because it was an interesting plot, and I would like to know more about it. It isn't great, but it did entertain me when I was waiting for books I was very excited for.

I read a lot of the bad reviews for this book before reading it, but I still decided to give it a chance anyway. After finishing the book, I found myself disagreeing with the reviews. While this story dealt with a lot of cliches, I felt like this was a very empowering book. This book took what many girls have to deal with and found a way to empower them. I took this as a survivor story, and I think it was very well written. It took a very difficult subject, rape and domestic abuse, and showed how a woman pushed through. The mix of fantasy made a very difficult subject much easier to digest.

Yes, it was cliche, but I still enjoyed this story and would totally recommend it to others.

Years ago, I picked up this book because I thought the title was pretty and I really enjoyed it. I bought all the books and just really enjoyed it.

The years went by, and I thought about this series every so often, and then I downloaded Overdrive onto my phone and saw that there was an audiobook for this series. I couldn't remember much about the series, and I decided to give it another try since I enjoyed it so much when I first read the series all those years before.

After all this time, I can honestly say, this book holds up. I still found myself in love with the writing and the story. I love how Libba Bray really transports you into the world she is creating. I feel like I was there, in history. It is just amazing how real she makes all her characters and how real she makes the world. I also love her mix of cultures. I just adore her writing style as a whole.

One thing I read was a review by a friend who mentioned that the friendship felt a little forced. After rereading the book, I found myself with the same opinion, but I still liked the story as a whole. It was such a great world that Libba Bray created, and just like before, I couldn't help but dive into the other books in the series.

I picked this book up because it was up for a Choice Award on here, and boy! Was that the wrong thing to do.

This book made me so uncomfortable with the amount of sex that happened. None of the sex even felt real. This was clearly a fantasy book about how girls dream of what sex is like, and I could never get into books like that. What is wrong with realistic sex? Where it is messy and awkward. What's wrong with having a character, who is a virgin, have no idea what to do?

Yes, I did like the fact she was different since she was on the spectrum, but that is the only compliment I have to give to this book: a unique main character. Everything else felt so fake and forced. Michael in love with her so quickly? Breaking all of his rules for her after one time? It just felt so farfetched.

This book is a fantasy with no hold on reality, when it is supposed to be set in reality. I just couldn't get into it. And it was more than just too much sex. It was everything else that had to go with it.
