The Kiss Quotient
by Helen Hoang
I picked this book up because it was up for a Choice Award on here, and boy! Was that the wrong thing to do.
This book made me so uncomfortable with the amount of sex that happened. None of the sex even felt real. This was clearly a fantasy book about how girls dream of what sex is like, and I could never get into books like that. What is wrong with realistic sex? Where it is messy and awkward. What's wrong with having a character, who is a virgin, have no idea what to do?
Yes, I did like the fact she was different since she was on the spectrum, but that is the only compliment I have to give to this book: a unique main character. Everything else felt so fake and forced. Michael in love with her so quickly? Breaking all of his rules for her after one time? It just felt so farfetched.
This book is a fantasy with no hold on reality, when it is supposed to be set in reality. I just couldn't get into it. And it was more than just too much sex. It was everything else that had to go with it.
