The side characters are so good and bring a fun side to the story. However, we follow the story through the blandest character who’s favorite f word is fuck.

The way this series has lived rent free in my head. The plot is SO good, there’s both characters you love and hate, and there’s more development on characters that were more side characters in the first book. Throughly enjoyed this one.

It’s impressive the lengths a young reporter went with her investigation into the insane asylum.

This was such a funny book I often found myself recommending it to friends before I was even done with it.

This had some hidden cowboy vibes, like the old Wild Wild West or something similar while also being sci-fi. It was refreshing to see a book with this that didn’t have a strong romance plot point.

What a cute and charming book. It was cozy and I loved the necromancer plot. This book just made me more invested in the series.

Honestly, it felt like the characters that were built up in Lightlark and Nightbane felt bland? Oro became blinded by love and that made him one-dimensional. Grimm had growth as a character, as in mending his relationship with Isla. Isla can’t decide what she wants and is torn between two people.

Honestly, I didn’t like how things were brought up. We see things happening mainly through Isla’s perspectives and still have no idea what she’s thinking. There was no moment when I felt like I could solve a puzzle or even know what the riddle was referring to because we weren’t given the information until the event happened and then got a blip about what Isla did behind the scenes.

This was a good story but it is very political and also slow in parts. It all builds on each other and I did find myself sometimes confused with the timeline -although I think that has more to me than the actual writing. The writing is very good and I loved how multiple languages were showed.
challenging emotional informative reflective medium-paced

I personally found the tangents interesting but not always necessary. However, this was both an informative and enjoyable read.
