This story serves the purpose of getting you interested in the series before committing. I want to learn more about this universe. This is, in itself, a short story.

Really loved this book. It was a super fun read, and after having the background characters from the first book, it was just nice to see what happened as this book came to an end. There’s characters you love and characters you love to hate.

The first part of the book is really long, and it was hard to get through. There was a lot of lore to build up and background to give. The first part of the book really builds on relationships and we're meeting a lot of people for the first time. The second part showed a lot action and provided good context to why the first part mattered so much. The third part, my heart was broken multiple times and I'm still reeling from it. At first, I wasn't sure I was going to finish this series. With the context to have things make sense, I don't think I'll be able to just go by not completing this full story.
Be warned, this is a heavy book. I had to read happy things in addition to this to help balance myself out. Nobody is safe, lots of people die, genocides and really really bad things happen.

This now ranks amongst one of my favorites in the classics. Went in thinking it was a horror/thriller book, but found out it was a sci-fi book, and I was pleasantly surprised.

This was a really fun read, and I’m glad to have spent the time in this mystery. It was the right amount of humerus, dark, suspenseful, and a well rounded who-done-it.

Some of these poems didn’t personally resonate with me (and that’s okay). However, the poems at the back of the book engrossed my mind, and I found myself highlighting lines.
It was also nice to have poetry expressing the highs in life, happy moments, the joys of love. It was balanced with some about heartbreak and moving on, but overall, it was uplifting.

A book of poetry that I think any woman in their mid twenties should read. While not all of it may be personally relatable, the content and words are important

The ending had me mad, I get it, but I’m still mad. Wrecked.

This book is very quickly becoming one that I am encouraging everybody (even random people) to read. I laughed, I was spooked, I was relieved.
The characters are likable. The plot is intense, but not in a way that is confusing. More so in a way that goes from “what a fun gothic tale” to “omg, please don’t go to the basement”.
I picked this book up on a whim, laughed from the first chapter, and had no other expectations. It isn’t very long, but this story packs a punch.

This book really did take my attention by storm. It was a fun read, a good premise for a story, and characters that made me feel all sorts of emotions.
Isla is relatable. She cares deeply about her friends, she wants to do well by the people she trusts, and she changes throughout the story. While she does some questionable things, she also does some honorable things.
The first part of the book really sets up and provides good context for the second part of the book. The second part has a lot of action, but I don’t think it would have been meaningful without it.
