I cannot keep going in this. I made it through two ‘short stories’, which I think should be considered more like vignettes instead. 

I do not understand why the author switched from first person to third person narration between the POVs. Also, both Jane and Fiona offer zero personality in their opening chapters.

An absolute must read memoir and I recommend listening to the audiobook - narrated by Mike himself. 

Have you watched 'Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath' or listened to the podcast 'Fair Game' hosted by Mike Rinder and Leah Remini? If not, both are must watch/must listen and if you have - this is the must read to go along with Leah's memoir (which I still need to read).

Mike shares his life story here, from his childhood in Australia when his family joined scientology to joining the Sea Org as a teen to his role in various activities in the organization followed by what has happened since he left. He also shares info on various celebrity members and expands on information he has shared in the show and/or podcast. 

If you have watched the various documentaries and listened to the podcast, don't worry - there's still new information here. My jaw dropped multiple times because just when I thought the actions of the cult couldn't get worse - it got worse. 

As you can see in the many one star reviews on this, the scientology huns and bots are out with their fair game tactics as expected, but with some of the info divulged that I don't remember hearing in the show or the podcast, I can see why. Talk about damning. 

As always, this has made me remain thankful scientology does not have a large presence in the Midwest because there are only so many 'religious' crazies we can have here.

I cannot spend another second in the mind of the main character at the moment 

Not only does this just seem like a suburban mom sharing what she does each second of the day, there was nothing remotely funny or any horror elements besides a smell to entice me to continue. 

Additionally, the audiobook narrator doesn’t help either. If you try this one, do the physical copy. 

Finding Grace couldn’t find a way to keep me interested

Dismiss the given synopsis and try this out for size: revenge and ambition mean anyone could be a suspect and no one can be trusted in this manipulation suspense set in Sedona. 

I agree with many reviews that this wasn't a thriller, I'd say that it was more of a suspense novel. I love when suspense novels keep me guessing who the killer is until the end because everyone is questionable and a suspect here. 

I ended up reading basically the second half of this one morning just as I woke up and didn't want to put it down. I had to finish it.

I wouldn't say this is funny, it's more quirky and follows how tourists and outsiders aren't always welcome. 

If you're looking for an easy, bingeable popcorn suspense - try this one out!

Oof I’m disappointed.

As someone who listed to the podcast Cults that this book is based on, this book reads just like the podcast episodes that cover each of these cults. Would not surprise me if they just took the transcripts, cleaned them up, and sent to the publisher.

Beyond that, all of the cults mentioned here are some of the most famous cults that probably everyone already knows about. With how many cults were covered in the podcast, I wish a few more lesser known ones were included here.

Additionally, again as someone who listened to the podcast it’s hard to fathom why the podcast hosts weren’t included in the audiobook narration cast. I found myself wishing Greg and Vanessa were the ones sharing everything as the book was basically just a large podcast transcript.

Boring, predictable, and anticlimactic 

After how much everyone has raves about this author, I’m so disappointed
