Signs a book isn’t right for you: you forget you’re listening to it on Libby and then realize you need to try to finish it before your hold on Libby runs out.

This started out in my wheel house and quickly unraveled. Very much so a character driven book with some plot, but the plot doesn’t add much.

I’m amazed that this is flying under the radar because it needs to be on everyone’s radar.

A coming of age story following a black, gay man as he makes his own way in New York City after leaving his privileged family behind in Indianapolis. Set in the 1980s during the AIDS epidemic, this collection of lessons that the main character, Trey, learns almost reads like a collection of memoir essays.

This was a powerful reflection on a man coming of age in the Gay Rights movement as well as the AIDS epidemic. With both heartbreaking and comical moments, this was a powerful story that should be a must read.

If you enjoy books that trick you into thinking it’s nonfiction, but are actually fictional - pick this one up!

A TIP: Pick this one up as a physical or ebook copy! The footnotes help make the story and the audiobook version does not have the footnotes

I can see why everyone is raving about this one, but eh.

Cute, but docked for long chapters that seemed to drag on, one of my least favorite tropes, and more time spent in their teenage years than as adults.

It did remind of Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, but at least that one had a little more balance between adulthood and the teenage years.

Bonus points for making me want to ignore everything else to see if anything more actually happened. Spoiler: it didn’t. Pretty predictable.
informative slow-paced

I picked this out for my book club that focuses on true crime as many of us are also Agatha Christie fans.

However, it didn’t fully deliver for me. It seemed formatted like a research paper with repeated sentences that almost made this grueling to read. Additionally, several times the author would say something similar  “I don’t want to spoil, but” and then go on to spoil a Christie novel. As someone who hasn’t read all of Christie’s releases, I was disappointed by how many spoilers there were.

Finally, if you’ve ever watched Forensic Files, Snapped, or similar shows you may be bored. Many definitions and many mentions of famous cases

A perfect start to a new spy series staring a strong, female protagonist that reminds me of James Bond or Jason Bourne.

If you like historical fiction spy series such as the Maggie Hope series, take a chance on this modern female led spy novel set in London. I’m excited to see where this series goes.
