A House Is a Body is a dazzling debut of short stories from Shruti Swamy. This short story collection takes locations ranging from India to the United States and the descriptions brought me right into each story.

Each of these stories were previously published in journals and the combination of stories is perfect. Each are follow different characters, but also seem to be connected by small parts of each story if only from the use of descriptive language.

If you enjoy short stories, I highly recommend this collection to you. Great debut, Shruti!

It took me about a 13 months to read this first book of the Outlander series and I’ll forever kick myself for taking this long to finish it. It was so good and I can’t wait to pick up book two.

I did not expect to like this one as much as I did. I can happily say that I'm giving it four stars.


Paul lives in NYC with his wife Mary and his son Simon. He works for tech giant Ascendant is on a mission to eventually become CEO. After hearing about the small English village of Glastonbury, England from his friend Edward, Paul travels there and his life will never be the same.

Once he meets soul reader Christine and participates in rituals, he starts a journey on looking into himself and he'll bring his family with him.

Journey, in my opinion could be described as a fictional, male version of Eat, Pray, Love , which just happens to be one of my favorite non-fiction reads. Journey is a very thought provoking read and shows us that it is possible to find balance in every part of your life (spiritual, personal, and work).

If you're looking for a book to surprise you and like reading novels involving a character going on a personal journey to "find himself", I highly recommend Journey by Andrew Zimmerman.

My first thought when I finished it was, "When do we get part two?"

The best way I can describe listening to this on audio is that it's like being wrapped in a warm blanket when he speaks.

I keep seeing people compare Barack Obama's first presidential memoir to Michelle Obama's Becoming, however I don't think they're comparable. Yes they cover roughly the same timeline, but you can't expect the same information.

For reference, this first installment of Obama's presidential memoirs covers his life from childhood to the point in his presidency when Osama Bin Laden was taken down by SEALs. I found the whole novel fascinating. I don't think it was too long, in fact I think it was the perfect length.

You cannot expect someone to put information from: childhood, college, early adulthood, state senatorship, US senatorship, and presidency into a smaller book. I cannot wait to read the second installment to learn more about President Obama.

I recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent president memoir or to anyone that is missing Obama and the time when he was in office. I dare you to try not to cry at least once.

Easily one of my favorite books of 2020. My first Matt Haig and from what I’ve heard from others, I should pick up his other books!

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would after seeing so many mixed reviews. This has to be one of my favorite from the duo!

5 🌟. I listened to the audio book. While the quality of the audio recording could have been improved, the story and advice of Peter W. Shutz is extraordinary. I grabbed the audiobook on Audible upon recommendation from his daughter, Lori, when she visited the PCA Michiana Region for an event as our zone rep.

I would recommend the book to anyone who is a Porsche fanatic, an engineer, or anyone in management and business. His advice his unparalleled.

Women in Aviation is a quick read (64 pages) with more facts about women in aviation than I ever knew before. Covering women in aviation from both the UK and the United States, Julian Hale gives a brief description of women that paved the way for female pilots today.

Amelia Earhart had the largest section, but as she’s the woman we most commonly hear about it, it was refreshing to read the smaller sections in other females.

This book was a mix of memoir (Chuck’s career in golf and also how his dad.’s involvement in the mob shaped his life) and true crime, some mob activities that happened.

I’m usually not a fan of memoir and true crime mixed together, but this one definitely hit the spot.

I’ve always been fascinated by mob activities and relationships. The one thing that keeps this from being five stars for me is that some of the chapters were chopped up into multiple timelines childhood/adult etc and it could get confusing.
