I love finding a story that feels like it was written for me specifically. I would love to be some terrifying monster woman's gay little plague doctor

Oh yeah. Positively immaculate vibes 

I read this after getting stranded in Spain during the massive power outage and having to hitchhike back to my friend's house, so this book was meant to stay with me even if it didn't end up being one of the best things I've ever read (I knew it would).

I have ill will toward every person in my life that made me feel like emotional vulnerability was a sign of weakness because this book is proof that vulnerability is a sign of great power. On the other hand, I have nothing but kindness and warmth to offer victims of abuse, who deserve to have their own place, doorknob included.

Once, a friend asked me why there aren't more black people in the X Games and I said, "You don't get it."

I am in no way an authority in poetry so this is really just off vibes. I like some of these a lot!! Others felt a little too on the nose, and poetry about breakups is hard for me bc it's so easy to start sounding like real eyes realize real lies you know? But decent collection overall

having a mental breakdown over the slow taking of this grown man's innocence 

Jackson's stories often scare me in ways others never can because of how horrifically relatable I find her main characters and the reckoning that has to come with that. This story particularly so. There's so much fear and pain in feeling so outside of everyone else and yourself at the same time. 

Sometimes your radical epiphany is coming out as trans instead of

getting abandoned on a hike in the middle of nowhere

though LOL. Go figure.

Every time I read a KJ Parker novel it's basically just me going, "Waiter! Waiter! Bring me your next pathetic little freak please!" And he always delivers.

My dad got me an omnibus of three of these (which is actually a good dad gift from him, he's learning) but I'm weird about logging things on here so I'm doing them individually. 

Struggling with rating this one. I'm always down for more Alien lore and this is canon. It's definitely written like a serial novelist writes, which isn't a dig necessarily, just a breezy read if that makes sense. 

What bothers me is the characterization of Ripley. I might be entirely biased because, well, I fucking love Ripley (who doesn't?) but at times it felt a little like wish fulfillment. A little self inserty with the mc if you feel me. She's not going to pick you, she's 37 years late to waking up from hyper sleep, she'll never see her daughter again, and she just experienced horrors beyond comprehension. Idk I think I expected her to be angrier? The loss and fear was there, but I expected more rage about her situation, especially having to coordinate this group of people who have no idea how much danger they're really in. 

At least he didn't make them smooch I guess, or well he did, the mc just smooches her while she's asleep after an intense med pod heal :) which is :) me not like that. But he was self aware enough to know she's not smoochin a god damn thing awake after everything she's dealt with.

If I like the next two better, the stars may change we'll see!
