Where's the video game concept? I'm confused. I'm continuing to read because I want to know...are we in VR now or what? 🤷🏻♀️

This book series is about video games for like all of 1/4 of the first book and then never again. Then it becomes monster fae games in a very Hunger Games kinda way. Confusing. Was disappointed there wasn't more video game involvement because that would have absolutely gone with the title and cover art themes.

I DNF'd this book at 54%
So this book seems like it was the writers first book, which I happily support. However there were just too many things that were hard to take so I just couldn't finish it. I loved her latest book (Muted Whispers) and wanted to read more, but this is definitely not a series I can stomach.
The premise is a good one and even while the editing is subpar (forgiveable for first time authors) it was really the wildly ridiculous things that made it hard to suspend belief.
She's a fighter that takes no shit from anyone...except her mom who beats the shit out of her and her ex boyfriend who also beats the shit out of her...yet she's a top ranked martial artist and fighter in underground fights.
There is insta love going on with her brand new guys and within a day they are all horny mofos about to pound. Also her harem gives her sugary sweet nicknames that get used with such stupid frequency that it is pretty sickening. (Darling/Sweetheart/Little Star/Titch) Not my jam, but I'm not one to yuck someone's yum. I just wasn't expecting that right away.
The story is a bit of a jumbled mess and the MMCs get really vulnerable with her really fast. Which might be what someone else likes, but for me it's about the building of relationships that I like about RH.
The vibes are very much like a child made dessert with all the sweetest things they could imagine and then put mushrooms, beef and onions in it, because they wanted some random savory bits. I just couldn't stomach it.

The way she spins a tale with supernatural all a bit different than what we are used to is absolute magic in itself! The mysteries surrounding our FMC only get more intriguing the further into the book you go and I for one am absolutely feral for the next installment of the series.
