Stacy Willingham is the queen of southern suspense. This one kept me in grips. I don’t usually read books this far ahead of release day but I HAD to read this early (sorry May, June, and July arcs!)
The twists were spectacular and I was always guessing. It was so atmospheric and the added drama of the journalist turned true crime writer with the bonus of it being her own sister’s murder… chefs kiss.
I will say that the diary pieces being in third person did throw me at first but I just accepted it and went on.
Thank you @stmartinspress and @stacywillingham for my early review copy.

I knew to expect greatness with a new Backman but wasn’t prepared to be THIS destroyed. I adored every character because they had such depth. The sheer number of amazing quotes will make this one of the best books ever.. By the end of the book I truly felt like these were my friends too. It’s worth it to have your would crushed to read this one.

I really enjoyed Thai look at a teen’s life in NYC in late 1980s/early 1990s. As someone who was Carly’s age at that time I enjoyed the references to things from that time period (Swatch watches, Milli Vanilli, Gap clothes). Following Carly in this time of self-discovery and tumultuous time was a great read.
