This reminded me a lot of a mix between Rebecca and Wuthering Heights, with a bit of New Orleans life thrown in. Rebecca because there’s a mysterious woman that no one talks about, Wuthering Heights because there’s a decrepit old house, and nola because their world is about to be lost to water. 
I did enjoy it and I really loved Effy and Preston (he’s totally the Tenth Doctor forever in my cast).

🎬This is the seventh book in the On a Manhunt series but they are interconnected standalones so you’re fine to start anywhere. This is the first one I’ve read and it was so cute and sweet! 

I loved Aspen, who with a nightmare family and ick boyfriend after the other runs into a cute guy in a bar and says why not, it’s only one night…

Then Luke, after a night of trivia and so much more can’t get Aspen off his mind is an instant puppy dog and wants to do anything for her. Except, oh yeah… he’s one of the hottest actors on the planet and the paps won’t leave him alone. 

Enter a little fake dating and our alpha hero does whatever he can to win Aspen. I read this with a big ol’ smile on my face the whole time. And he calls her Tiger! Rawr!

This is book three of the Brutal Billionaires series, but can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read books 1 & 2 yet but have already downloaded them! Looking forward to the next one! 

I loved how determined Riah was and how much her voice came through. Alex, even though he’s a dominant character, has such a vulnerable side. Hunter… ugh. We have to have someone to hate, right? 

The steam in this one was incredible. I’ll just say I will never look at gym equipment the same way again. 🏋️ And… happy birthday Grandpa! We got you something custom made! 

I listened to the ALC and was so delighted to hear it featured Elena Wolfe (alter ego of Andi Arndt) as Riah, along with Robert Hatchet as Alex, JF Harding as Hunter, and Sarah Pederson as Whitney. This is read as dual narration which is so amazing. It adds so much to the experience. They were all so authentic and charismatic. Elena sings as Riah as well- a little treat. Robert Hatchet is new to me but he has such an intoxicating voice and he was so emotional- I will definitely be looking for more from him. 

Ready for book four… tick tock!

These are my thoughts. 

This is my first hockey romance and Avery Flynn was the PERFECT way to be introduced to the genre. This is a standalone but is the second in a series. I will definitely be going back now and reading ANGER BANG!! (And after this ending I’ll be impatiently waiting for book three). 

WALK OF SHAME was sweet, spicy, thoughtful, and funny. I adored our two MCs, Astrid and Cal. I must say I was just a little excited (and slightly confused) when a hockey book opened in New Orleans. (We’re not a hockey town.) But it switched right up to Minnesota so that made a little more sense 😅 Astrid is carrying a lot of hurt and pain and when Cal arrives she doesn’t even care to give him the time of day, but does give him her Cheetos… and that makes all the difference. These two could burn down an igloo they have so much heat! 🥵

Okkkkk… whyyy didn't anyone tell me that ROWING romance existed??? THIS is my thing! Y’all can have the cowboys, gimme a Brit in a boat anyday. Especially if they’re Oz! Yep. New book boyfriend alert. He’s a keeper y’all. (And I sure did switch my iPhone voice text reader over to “Oliver” to read it to me. 🥰

So we’ve got Kate, who’s come from the US to Cambridge to go to med school and row and Arthur “Oz” who is “reading the classics” (aka studying English for us Americans) but his father expects him to go into politics. He’s also captain of the Oxford rowing team. They meet when she literally bumps into him in the most adorable meet cute, then find out later they’re on opposing teams and aren’t supposed to fraternize with each other. Chaos ensues. 

The insta-love works here. It’s what happens in college. Lots of texting, 500 questions, sneaking around, keeping each others clothes to smell like the other person. Adorable. 

There is a glossary of rowing terms in the front to help. I happen to LOVE rowing/crew and look forward to it during the Olympics every year. It’s not really a big sport down here like it is on the East coast but we do have a few teams that row out by City Park (if you’ve ever been here) 

This is going to be a new series so I will def be reading this one. Lulu, you’ve got a reader for life here. 🩵
