me not knowing what to think of books seems to be becoming a trend. I love seeing all this behind the screens lore, it extends the universe in so many ways and it is delightful. However, I am confused as to how this relates to the original trilogy, and how it might somewhat take away from it. Does seeming the backing influence how you see the front? This is a question I am asking myself, and I have no answers
i stand by my origional assessment of this book, it has whimsy, it has raunchy, it had what i assume might have been humour, and i had no idea what was going on most of the time. descriptions are wonderful, and occassionally aggressively Welsh which amuses me, but if there was a story it went straight over my head. I am just not too sure where i stand on this one. when i finish a book i usually ramble for a bit, but i have nothing. as i said before, this book was a fever dream, and like the intense and absurd dreams a fever brings, I am just not sure if it was a good experience or not. Dylan Thomas undoubtedly has a way with words, I am just not quite sure what kind of way that is

as much as i wanted to give this book a higher rating because it was clever and suitably silly, leaving me in a constant state of "what the fuck", in a good way. the format wasnt entirely conductive to my enjoyment, as i constantly kept forgetting who was who.

i think i have a lot to say about this book, if it hadnt scrambled my brain so much. it has an interesting premise, what with the grammar of time and all that, and some of the jokes and puns are actually funny. i get that this is a parody of doctor who, and it might even have been a good one, if it wasn't for the needless shambling of the chapters. it breaks all tension and makes me have to reinvest every single chapter, it doesnt help the "Dr" "re-un-degenerates" in chapter 7.
Prose Tailor is an interesting character, who is done no service by the whole thing. linn is there too but i am not sure who the F linn is.
I want to like this book, i really do, but for the love of everything why does it need to be this way. i get its supposed to be part of the twist at the end but it doesnt really work.
There was the base of something interesting in there, that was then destroyed by the way the book was build up. Prose Tailor is an interesting character that i couldnt help but like, but the Dr is an ass. i can't tell if the author actually hates the origional series or not. the occasional joke was actually funny, but sometimes things were straight up blund and uncalled for for the sake of so called comedy and i'm not feeling it. the description of the "moronic screwdriver" actually bugged me.
Minor: Ableism
uses the word "moronic" casually and quite often. i found it jarring.

I recently finished The Many Selves of Katherine North by Emma Geen
and i really want to write some long review of it, but i have no idea where to start.
I REALLY liked this book. I love books that allow you to explore novel ideas and concepts and wow this one delivered. Katherine North is a phenomenaut which means she gets to project her conciousness onto animals, which is AWESOME. the writer does an amazing job of imagining what it would be like being a human mind in an animal body, and how doing that for a job would destroy your mental health when trying to live as a human. i've read a lot of books critisising the main character for being unlikable and annoying but it feels like that makes perfect sense given how she goes through her life, and it feels believable, expecially keeping in mind this is a 19 year old who spend like half of her life growing up in the bodies of various animals. there were some scenes that were slightly... the whale scene, as well as the horny elephants they were a bit much in the sense of... well, sexual content, even though it wasnt very explicit. and towards the end of the book, two timelines with the same character intertwining gets confusing...
but all in all this book projects a neat way of exploring both the world and show a story of self discovery.
the romance at the end felt natural too, without it taking up the entire story beforehand

Feeling like two stars is generous, but it gets a star for the reference images it provides. But yeah this book has issues in terms of dealing with absolutes and acting like that's just how the genre works and I'm not a fan of it. Maybe it's just outdated idk. But that way of describing female characters is uncomfortable man...
And I've been laughing at the facial expressions page for hours now, they look so unnatural
