Something about Jackaby books makes it so easy to suspend disbelief; it’s one of the few series that consistently gives me delightful literary chills as the plot builds. Abigail Rook is admittedly not the most compelling narrator in her own right, but as the Watson to Jackaby’s Holmes (just with more contribution to the progression of the investigation) she’s likable and relatable enough, a great bridge between the reader and the story.

I would've liked some more diversity — at least LGBTQ if not ethnic/racial, considering the latter would admittedly be a little hard, even confusing, to implement in a story where most of the characters are actually invisible — but it was a thought-provoking and to some extent empowering read, if slightly harder to relate to as a young person firmly entrenched in the media/tech generation. I also felt like the ending was in a good place, in terms of the narrative.

Apparently I've already read this book? The summary and character names sound really familiar, and I have lukewarm feelings towards them. (Clearly it didn't make a very strong impression either way, though.)

From a relationship-studies perspective, this book was fascinating. The characters were likable if not especially vivid, and I liked the lawyery bits. Not noteworthy, but I don't regret the time I spent reading it.

Short and sweet, just long enough to establish characters and develop a plot that didn't drag. Vivid characters - I especially loved Holden - and lovely sibling, friend relationships.

A light summer reading kind of novel, but it wasn't half bad. Clem's moodiness sometimes made her inaccessible, but otherwise the characters were vivid (especially Olive!) and lovable.

Pretty typical narrative progression: cheerleader/popular girl joins the nerds, becomes nice in spite of (and at the cost of) her bitchy ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriend. Great characters, though; Nikki's efforts to balancing out demonizing Lacey were admirable and acknowledged, and I'd love to hang out with Shanti and Ethan.
