Thank you Penguin Teen for sending me an advanced copy of this book!
This might be my favorite book in the series so far! I loved Arjun and Pippa’s story so much and I hope there’s more of them in the final book!
2023 update:
This is still my favorite book in the series. I enjoyed reading about Arjun and Pippa far more than Celine and Bastien this time around. Their character development is what made them so much more lovable this book and I feel like Celine took a step back and there was a naïveté about her in this book that you didn’t see in the previous 2 books and it made me like her quite a bit less.
I’m looking forward to seeing how the whole series wraps up now!

I was really disappointed with how this book turned out after enjoying it so much before.
The miscommunication trope is my least favorite ever and this whole book was one miscommunication after another, one lie and misheld piece of information after another….
Celine, who had once been this strong female MC, took a major turn for the worse in this one. I thought her character devolution was truly disheartening in this book. You saw it in the 3rd book but I thought it was so much worse in this one.
I also thought the ending was super rushed and feels really unresolved. I’m not even totally sure how it all happened and it was all just kinda weird.
Super disappointed in this one

I don’t think this one was as good as the first book, mainly because the beginning of the book didn’t do it for me. I’m really judgmental about relationships in books, and the way Millie was with Brock just annoyed me to no end.
Once we kinda got over a lot of that at it was focused more on the actual story it was an absolutely wild ride! I don’t want to say anything else because I wouldn’t want to spoil anything but I’m pretty sure I said what the f*ck out loud at least twice towards the end of the book as I was reading!
Looking forward to seeing where she goes with this in the next book!

I really considered rounding this one down as it is my lowest rated SJM book ever ….
I really really struggled with this book. For one, it was way too long and there were a lot of unnecessary storylines thrown in to make it longer than it needed to be. Second, I struggled with the characters a lot more in this book than I have in others. Third, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, there wasn’t enough actual romance in this one. It was more like reading bad porn than a romantasy book during those scenes.
Spoilers below ⬇️
I’m going to go on a bit of a rant about this book and there will be spoilers so do not keep reading if you didn’t finish the book!!
1. What the actual f-ck is wrong with Bryce and Hunt? I stand by saying that they are her weakest characters to date (I’ll get to Ithan shortly). Bryce is the biggest hypocrite ever, always complaining about the males being alohaholes and she’s the biggest one. I’ve said it before and I stand by it but the stuff she says and does makes me cringe. And Hunt was so god awful in this book I didn’t know what to make of him. There was a point her actually, in the span of paragraphs, said he loved Bryce and then said he never hated her more and then was saying how much her hated her again ….. like what? And why the mix of emotions? Oh because Bryce was being the type of person she supposedly hates
2. More with Bryce. I was sooooo sick of her hatred of the fae by the end. She would go on and on about how horrible they were but then would gush over Ruhn and Dec and Flynn …. But they’re part of this awful fae race she bitches about. And she will talk about the fae and how awful they are in front of them like it’s absolutely nothing. I just don’t get it…
3. Ithan was actually the worst character of the story. His storyline added no substance to the story and was just him whining and complaining the entire time. Why was it even necessary?
4. What was up with the romance scenes? It was like reading bad porn… I think I actually cringed during one of them I thought it was so bad. The only decent scene was Ruhn and Lidia in this book. And most of it was Bryce and Hunt have a horrible dynamic. Like I don’t even think they know what love is half the time reading about them.
I have no clue if this series will continue but I really hope this is the last book. If there’s another one will I read it? Probably. Will I be happy about it? Probably not…
SJM there’s so many better stories for you to tell. Try to go back to your ToG writing days and find another badass heroine that’s not as cringey as Bryce and give us another adventure to go on please

This series was an absolute rollercoaster for me.
I don’t know if it was the writing style or what but there were times where I was reading and I was so into it and invested and there were other times when I kept having to reread things because they just weren’t clicking for me.
I think this was a very solid conclusion to the series and overall I think this is a good series start to finish. It was absolutely wild at times and there were definitely some parts I just didn’t get but at no point was I not entertained. I always felt the need to keep reading to figure out what was going to happen next.
Other than that I don’t really have much to say for the series as a whole. It was good and I enjoyed it while I was reading it but I don’t think I’m going to remember what it was about a year from now

4.5/5 stars rounded up!
This one was definitely slower than the first one …
With the way the first one ended I wasn’t sure where this story was going to go at all. I thought it got off to a quick and exciting start with a twist I did not see coming at all!
Then it slowed down in the middle, got a little angsty at times which is why it’s losing the half star from me. I wasn’t sure I liked where the story was going with Tessa and Corrick at that point ….
But then it picked right back up at the end and left us with a cliff hanger that makes me a little mad that the next book isn’t out yet!
All in all a solid follow up and I hope the trilogy closes out with a bang!
2024 update:
Still agree with the 4.5/5

This was a good enough story to keep me interested and intrigued throughout but didn’t have that “damn” moment for me that I look for in thrillers.
I thought the story was a bit predictable as it was going on, it was pretty easy to piece together parts of it. I’ll admit I had no clue what was going on in the Henry chapters until the end but there were enough breadcrumbs dropped to figure out the rest.
This book was good, not great. I have another of her books on my shelves that I’ll have to read before deciding if I want to read any more.

I usually don’t make comparisons to other books but this gave me Six of Crows meets Throne of Glass (early books) vibes and I was all about it!
I absolutely loved everything about this book! The characters were diverse and each brought something different to the story. You loved them but at the same time knew you couldn’t trust any of them but at the same time you’re rooting for them and for everything to work out.
I loved that the world building was done throughout the story and there wasn’t a big info dump all at once. You learn about the world and the characters as the story goes on and it makes it easier to get into the story!
I was worried that it was going to be hard to follow with all the different characters but it really wasn’t as all their stories are tied together.
And that ending! I knew something big was going to be coming but I have to admit I did not expect the ending we got! I cannot wait for the second book to come out and I need it asap so I can see what happens next!

Huge shoutout to Entangled Teen for sending me an arc of this one!
This was my first Tracy Wolff book and overall I found it to be an entertaining read. I loved the premise of a school for misfit paranormals where their powers are kept on lockdown. When a huge storm hits the island the school is on things start to get out of control really fast.
There’s a wide cast of characters who are sassy and witty and terrifying. I had to keep reminding myself that this is a YA book though because the characters could be very immature at times and I had to keep telling myself it’s because they’re teenagers (I’ve been reading a lot more adult fantasy this year)
The only thing I didn’t love about this one was the attempt at a romance. I thought it was very obsessive pining and kinda got annoying when I’d be reading an intense scene and all of a sudden the MC would be thinking about her unrequited love … made worse by her being a teenager (in my opinion)
Definitely an entertaining read though!
