Really enjoying going back and reading this series. I only ever made it through the first few books as a kid so I’m curious to read the rest before I go and watch the rest of the tv series!
I was a little confused where this book was going at first but once I got past the start it really started to get exciting! I really enjoyed the theme of this book, the storyline was intriguing and exciting. I liked all the characters and the different relationships they all had. I wish we could have found out a little more about them in this book though. All in all I really enjoyed this one!
4.5/5 stars!
So I don’t read a ton of YA and I read even less LGBTQ YA books but I got this book from Penguin Teen (thanks again guys!) and o had to give it a try! Needless to say I’m really glad I did because I ended up enjoying it way more than I expected to!
I found Lou to be an incredibly relatable character who reminded me a lot of myself. She thinks she’s not good enough and daydreams and plots of ways to make her life and summer perfect but then everything starts to go wrong.
There was a lot of character development really fast towards the end but it all kinda worked out. The characters all fit together really well and it ended up being super cute.

I was convinced I had this one figured out. The end of the book was coming up and they were confirming that I had finally figured it out.... and then I was wrong yet again!
One day I will correctly guess whodunnit!

Colleen Oakes has permanently cemented herself on my list of favorite authors!
This book was absolutely amazing!
A group of broken girls who have experienced tragedies at the hands of men are recruited to exact justice on men who pray on women. But there is something not quite right about the mysterious Black Coats ...
This book was so well written and so entertaining that I could not put it down! I loved the characters and how the meshed, I absolutely loved the storyline, and I loved this book! I cannot say that enough, I highly recommend picking this one up!

Such a great duology!
This book definitely started out a bit slower than the first one but the ending did not disappoint! It had its moments where it was just as action packed and suspenseful as the first book! But I don’t know how I feel about the ending ending .... I don’t know if it was meant to set something else up or if I’m just reading too much into it and am a little curious about the ending

Desiree Clary was not the woman I was expecting her to be and her story was not what I was expecting either.
As the brief fiancé of Napoleon Bonaparte I expected her to be this gorgeous, intelligent, enrapturing woman... but she seemed very plain and ordinary to me. She was described as being beautiful, of that I have no doubt, but the rest of her personality seemed so ordinary. I find it truly amazing that she not only ensnared the heart of Napoleon for a period of time, but also captured the heart of a man so loved by the general masses that he would end up the king of Sweden! And maybe I’m missing something while reading about her, but I find it truly amazing that she became the woman she did.
She lived through one of the worst periods of French history and not only came out of it alive but better off than she had ever been. Her story was a truly remarkable one, tying in not only the story of Napoleon and his empire but the story of Sweden and the beginning of a dynasty there.
Thank you so much to Random House for sending me a copy of this book! I highly recommend picking it up if you’re interested in history!

4.5/5 stars rounded up!
There was so much hype around this series that I was always super nervous to read it. I wasn’t sure if it would be something I would like because the summary never really drew me in.
That being said, I ended up really enjoying this book and I totally understand why so many people love it! It was different and action packed and had you wondering what was going to happen to the two main characters constantly.
The ending was never truly predictable and, despite this being a series, you get a very well rounded ending to the first part of the story.
All in all it’s a really great start to the series and I look forward to reading the rest!

Ugh this series is just so amazing!! I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved book 2 and I loved the addition of Lia Mara as a character! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
