Could perhaps take some editing down to be shorter, but it's 5 stars anyway because of how much it has impacted my hosting. The text is clear, and contains many examples. It is thought provoking and provides clear guidelines for how to create an intentional space in time and invite others into it. I'm not totally sure I've nailed it yet, but I'm going to keep trying on my Priya Parker inspired events!

This book has also helped me professionally, though I wasn't reading it with that in mind. Storytimes have received some Priya Parker inspired tweaks that made them much better!

I always enjoy Vivian Vande Velde's prose, and i did this time as well. The plot, however, felt flat.

We follow a stone through time to see how it has been used. The artwork is, as always, gorgeous. I didn't like, however, that the people felt like caricatures of different cultures. It felt like the message was supposed to be some universality, but instead it felt very othering. I'm also not at all clear that children could follow the tale without a LOT of adult guidance.
