Playful and colorful, I think this book overstates the brain's functions though. It doesn't seem fully up to date on recent scientific findings about the interwoven nature of brain and body. Still, it is clearly written and a good introduction for the 1-3 grade crowd.
Totally charming! Fairly predictable, but in a nice comfort-food kind of way.
Snarky and amazing. Interesting except for the history section, though maybe you think that section is interesting if you don't already know the factoids contained therein. Better attribution, with footnotes or similar, would take it up to 5 stars.
Simply adorable, with lots of good plot growth potential. I look forward to reading the next!
Unfuck Your Brain: Using Science to Get Over Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Freak-Outs, and Triggers
Fun premise, but the pacing was jagged. No action for ages, then a lot packed into one chapter, then a lull, and all the real interesting stuff in the last 60ish pages. I could also wish for a bit more character development, particularly for the villains, who seem to have little motive, if any.
Serious tearjerker. The intensity isn't only in the holocaust story, which is of course intense and full of people dying, but in the epilogue about the present day. This is the book we need. #neveragain
