Sweet and heartfelt, but not overdone. Gorgeous illustrations frame this haunting little tale about the love that carries on after loss.
An auspicious start to a new series. I do so love when there is a new mechanism for magic.
Good solid fun! I could have done without the hints of transphobic misogyny in having the wolf dress in granny's clothing for a laugh, but given that the rest of the story is great I think that's something to talk about with your young reader and not something that should keep this book out of anybody's hands.
A darling little book with interesting, unique, and well-rounded characters. The plot isn't much to go on, but the characters are so charming I almost don't mind.
Lovely little book of encouragement and art. I'm not entirely certain who this book is FOR though. Children who will grow up to enjoy postsecret?
On the whole, I'm not sure I want my TED-talk-style policy essays in the form of graphic novels. I was sold on the merits of the argument essentially before starting reading, but in some ways he unconvinced me. Mostly by failing to acknowledge that deep and crippling poverty exists in first world countries. If he'd mentioned it and then made the argument that the global poor in 3rd world countries have it worse off, I would have probably agreed with that, but I would have liked him to acknowledge it. Also, more wealth is treated as an unquestioned good, without any using any other measures of wellbeing. I would like to hear what other economists think on the subject. I was interested enough taht I want to read more on the subject,t so that's a win. And the illustrations are very well done, even though i thought the format ill-fitting to the subject matter.
Pride & Prejudice & Zombies for children. I love this book. I love that the images are all real art with monsters inserted. I love that the styles change to fit the art. I love that there is back matter explaining them all. It's all great.
In every exciting scene, the protagonist is overshadowed by adults. Adults make all the important moves and decisions. In a children's book, this is a cardinal sin. Also, the whole thing started agonizingly slowly.
Utterly charming, in an off-beat and funny way. I think it'll tickle kids. It tickles me.
