Grappling with the question of what is personhood in a whole new way, in addition to that of what is family. Also more gate-space physics! I really enjoyed this book, though I wish we had seen the matching scene and heard a first person voice from the combined person of Reet/Qven I really hope we get that in a future book.
Graphic: Violence, Xenophobia, Kidnapping, Grief
Moderate: Child death, Abandonment

A book to inspire an spark conversation, but not a book to inform or introduce. Best read with a knowledgeable adult, I really wish there was some back-matter for adults to help grownups who want to have this conversation but don't have the words.
lighthearted
I don't like a cute mouse story, BUT I do dig a lesbian Cinderella, so I forgive it.
Gentle language and gentle pictures for a difficult and non-gentle topic. I feel all kinds of conflicted about how to present Israel and Palestinian conflict to children, and this is definitely one-sided in a way that means I wouldn't use it as a single resource. But as part of a set of resources, it really could work to help further the conversation.

Very sweet picture book about all the reasons a person could cry. The person in question is a white boy, which I would object to more but it's intended to combat toxic masculinity so I get it.
Love the smaller than bigger format, along with the zoom out zoom in text. This is maybe more a book for adults than kids, but it is still a good one.
In the end, her family believes her!!! I loved this for its depiction of don Quixote as a real magical lineage rather than a fool, and then I adored it for the validating ending.

A delightful read, delivering exactly on it's promise, which is what one wants from a romance.

Fine as far as it goes, but really only about physical disability, and very visible physical disability at that. Maybe the "if we have ramps everyone can access the space" etc is a nod towards the social model of disability, but it's too subtle for children. I wish this book was a heavier hitter.
