Imagination is a muscle. YES. Moved down to 4 stars because no childrne have let me read thsi to them, so it doesn't hold their attention.

Short but sweet, with a nod towards a complex history.

What is invisible? Feelings, smells...what else? Fanciful pictures of invisible things abound.

Kind of bland feel-good story without any meat. Feels a bit like inspiration porn, by a patient so it gets half a pass, but it's still not a great book. Also, crucially, does nto explain what sickle cell disease is!

Loved the artwork, didn't love how complicated the plot was at first without explanation, but I got it eventually. Also didn't love the cliffhanger ending, but I will definitely read the next one. Also, killing the main character in the first chapter was a bold move and I'm here for it.
informative

The illustrations are gorgeous, but...that's all this book has going for it. It's not a biography of McCloskey, it's not a biography of Schon, it's not even about make way for ducklings. It's only the extremely narrow story of Schon creating the statues of the ducklings for Boston Gardens. So incredibly niche that I would like at least to have some details, but none are forthcoming. A mostly pointless book, albeit a beautiful one.

I like the body neutrality, and the inclusion of many disabilities and assistive devices throughout. Also, finally some actual body size diversity in a book like this! I still always wish for more, specifically I want "your body can be good even when it is not healthy" and I want photography. But this is good.

A lovely story about the importance of loving and the importance of memory to mourning, but without being about grief.

GORGEOUS illustrations. The story is thoughtful, the characters deep and varied, but mostly the art took my breath away.

DID NOT FINISH: 33%

The characters are nice enough, the plot is...nice enough. But there's nothing about this story that's catching my interest right now.
