This was my first Backman, and it was not what I expected. While there are some flaws in this, what I got out of it was worth it. This is a story that makes you step back and look at your life.

This is my least favorite Thomas Hardy novel so far. I really enjoyed the beginning because of the friendship and the astronomy. However, the last part was too melodramatic/overdramatic for my taste.
