This was an educational and fascinating book for me. I've never read anything set in Greenland, so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a compelling story of five young Greenlanders who struggle with their sexuality and gender identity in modern-day Nuuk. The author weaves between the different points of view very well, and I read this in one sitting.

2021: This was an incredibly strong and beautiful sequel to Assassin's Apprentice. Hobb took what she did in book one and did it even better in Royal Assassin. The plot is compelling, tragic, and beautiful. Hobb's writing is absolutely stunning.

This was my first Gaskell novel, and I am so glad I read this. I was told this is a Victorian version of Pride and Prejudice. While there are some similarities, this book has so much more. Gaskell does a masterful job of exploring the relationships between "masters" and "workers" in the industrialized setting. The characters are complex, and the love story is absolutely beautiful.
