A psychological thriller that revolves around a couple going to visit his family. What could go wrong?

I enjoyed this book but, either I am a bit jaded or it is easy to see the ending coming. If the ending wasn't so predictable I would have enjoyed the title a bit more but, I did still like to see it all come together. If it were longer I would have gotten more annoyed with it and rated it lower lol.

Grady Hendrix can do no wrong. I have no personal ties to metal/rock music and I seriously enjoyed this book. There were numerous twists and turns and I love how the 2 female narratives tied together in the second half of the book. The rock world created in this work sucked me in and I was sad to finish.

I know when I’m starting one of Hoover’s books I am going to spend no more than 24 hours on it and this was not an exception. The way the characters were presented I went back and forth between loving and hating both Tate and Miles but, the last half of the book really wrapped up everything and delivered a punch (as usual for Colleen). What really got me was the format change at the very end

I LOVED this book! Omg Olive was such a fabulous female main character and I love the enemies to lovers trope, especially how the author made this one unfold. I couldn’t put this down, I wanted to be friends with this couple LOL. Highly suggest this for anyone looking for a romcom book.

3.5 Of all books I've read recently this one was genuinely scary because having a child that lacks empathy is a very real fear of mine. While it was scary, it was infuriating that Alex and Suzette couldn't get on the same page until over half way through the book. Overall, I liked how wild of a ride it was but, I wish the ending was more definite, as I am still fearful for the characters even though the book is over and I hate when that happens, even when the ending is objectively good and well written. Overall, while it was a good read I would have enjoyed it more if definite details came about such as a diagnosis or a true ending to all of it. I know that's the point sometimes but man it leaves things too vague for me to really enjoy it.

Ooh I loved this murder-mystery “who done it” story. I listened to this and following multiple narratives wasn’t an issue to keep up with in an audio format either. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a read that is reminiscent of classic mystery novels.

I really wish I liked this more than I did. I feel that with Jones’ works I have to work really hard to pay attention to a plot that doesn’t pick up enough to be worth the trouble. While the ending to this was really good and well written, it sort of took precedent over the initial love letter to slasher movies theme that the book was shaped by. While the information and attention to details when referring back to slashers may be impressive to some, I felt that while it was cool it really took away from the plot—it allowed for the main character to ramble about these instead of things actually happening. Overall, I think that this shit review might be a “me” issue because I have never enjoyed Jones’ writing style in the first place but, this left me empty handed and sad. I’d recommend this if you love to have simple story lines delivered in complex ways through a multitude of facts that cluster the flow of the story with a tinge of life altering trauma. Happy I’m done with this :/

3.5. There was so much hype around this book I assumed it would be better overall than it was. This is my second of Sager's works and I feel that his writing style revolves around insane plot twists that leave the reader shocked during the last half of the book. While I would typically love that, I don't think it's an excuse to make the first portion of the book SO SLOW. I seriously almost DNR'ed this due to the plot being nonexistent and consisting of inner dialogue from the main character which, you don't even know is real or not. I found the ~real or not real~ aspect to be really played out by 1/4 through the book but apparently Sager did not :-). The last 45% of the book was very unexpected and fast paced, something I wish the first half of the book did as well. Overall, I would still recommend this book due to the plot being generally interesting but, I hope in the future Sager relies less on inner dialogue and more on actual events unfolding. Also the last chapter should be omitted entirely, I really disliked it so much lol.

2.5...I have seen a ton of positive praise for this book but, it fell flat for me :/ I hate this because the first 50 or so pages were so promising and truly had me hooked! While the book contained multiple twists and turns I would have enjoyed them more if they made actual logical sense. The paranormal elements that were intertwined didn't add up either and made it feel like too much was going on at one time for me to be fully engaged. I don't want to give too much away but between the letters and the revelation about a character towards the end of the book, I feel that Feeney tried too hard to make every single detail tie together and ~mean something~ when really, it would have been more believable if every single thing wasn't a clue. Overall, this kept me interested but the more I read it the more annoyed I became. If you simply want to read something for twists and turns choose this. If you want it to fully make sense, maybe don't.

I know this rating is oddly specific but I have my reasons LOL. Okay I want to start by saying I enjoyed the book. January and Augustus' romance was so fun to watch unfold. I loved January's character so much and just inserting her character alone into a book would have made me feel the same way. She was endearing, wistful, and downright hilarious. I also enjoyed Augustus and his more ~reserved~ side. From the beginning it was evident that he would be the brooding, hard to read, "I have built these walls and boundaries because REASONS" character, which I felt he fell into in a way that wasn't jaded and kept me interested. The story itself was precious, and I could feel myself walking through this small beach town as I read through the pages. Even with all of these elements the story provided, the book just didn't make me *FEEL* like other romances do. Was it a fun and amazingly well written and executed read? Yes. Did it make me overwhelmed with emotion and feel as if I was upset that it ended? Meh??? Overall, this was a fun read and I would definitely recommend it but, it just didn't make me feel that "Ooh that was really good, I wish I could wipe my memory clean and read it over again unknowingly" feeling when it was over.
