Hoover is SO GOOD at “the hook” and sucking you into stories so you don’t want to put the book down. I don’t do love books a lot of the time but I’m going to have to start making exceptions for her. It’s not even the plot or characters that made me love this book it’s the way Colleen presented them, unveiling layer after layer, letting everything slowly unfold and bringing emotions I’ve personally had trouble expressing to light in a beautiful way. Love her loved the book could not put it down.

I loved the characters in the book and how fast-paced yet low-stakes and impactful the storyline was. The insights to privileges some don’t ever consider were eye opening and presented through the lenses of the characters entertaining and made me think about my life outside of the book. Would recommend.

Reid's best work to date. I love the characters, the way the story is told, and how the plot only gets better and better as the book progresses. Multiple storylines tugged at my emotions and sucked me in! If you are going to read any of Reid's works I suggest this one, I loved the variety of relationships that were portrayed and how Reid held all of them to a high significance, all an equal part of the story.

Grady Hendrix can do no wrong. I have no personal ties to metal/rock music and I seriously enjoyed this book. There were numerous twists and turns and I love how the 2 female narratives tied together in the second half of the book. The rock world created in this work sucked me in and I was sad to finish.

Absolutely my favorite read of 2021 so far. I cannot even begin to describe how obsessed I became with this story. The way Hill presents the characters and lets the story unfold is just as good as the intricate plot itself. I hate fantasy/sci-fi things most of the time. When I realized that this book wasn't classically paranormal that involves ghosts or demons I almost did not even consider it. I am SO HAPPY that I did. The plot kept me guessing up until the very end and there were multiple moments where I had to put the book down because it was so stressful. I hate rereading books but I am already planning to reread this book around Christmas time. If you have not read this book or if you were thinking about reading this book but you were on the fence, please do. If you're into horror/thriller stories please check this one out. LOVED.

Ooh I loved this murder-mystery “who done it” story. I listened to this and following multiple narratives wasn’t an issue to keep up with in an audio format either. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a read that is reminiscent of classic mystery novels.

3.5. There was so much hype around this book I assumed it would be better overall than it was. This is my second of Sager's works and I feel that his writing style revolves around insane plot twists that leave the reader shocked during the last half of the book. While I would typically love that, I don't think it's an excuse to make the first portion of the book SO SLOW. I seriously almost DNR'ed this due to the plot being nonexistent and consisting of inner dialogue from the main character which, you don't even know is real or not. I found the ~real or not real~ aspect to be really played out by 1/4 through the book but apparently Sager did not :-). The last 45% of the book was very unexpected and fast paced, something I wish the first half of the book did as well. Overall, I would still recommend this book due to the plot being generally interesting but, I hope in the future Sager relies less on inner dialogue and more on actual events unfolding. Also the last chapter should be omitted entirely, I really disliked it so much lol.

2.5...I have seen a ton of positive praise for this book but, it fell flat for me :/ I hate this because the first 50 or so pages were so promising and truly had me hooked! While the book contained multiple twists and turns I would have enjoyed them more if they made actual logical sense. The paranormal elements that were intertwined didn't add up either and made it feel like too much was going on at one time for me to be fully engaged. I don't want to give too much away but between the letters and the revelation about a character towards the end of the book, I feel that Feeney tried too hard to make every single detail tie together and ~mean something~ when really, it would have been more believable if every single thing wasn't a clue. Overall, this kept me interested but the more I read it the more annoyed I became. If you simply want to read something for twists and turns choose this. If you want it to fully make sense, maybe don't.
