Survive the Night by Riley Sager
3.0

3.5. There was so much hype around this book I assumed it would be better overall than it was. This is my second of Sager's works and I feel that his writing style revolves around insane plot twists that leave the reader shocked during the last half of the book. While I would typically love that, I don't think it's an excuse to make the first portion of the book SO SLOW. I seriously almost DNR'ed this due to the plot being nonexistent and consisting of inner dialogue from the main character which, you don't even know is real or not. I found the ~real or not real~ aspect to be really played out by 1/4 through the book but apparently Sager did not :-). The last 45% of the book was very unexpected and fast paced, something I wish the first half of the book did as well. Overall, I would still recommend this book due to the plot being generally interesting but, I hope in the future Sager relies less on inner dialogue and more on actual events unfolding. Also the last chapter should be omitted entirely, I really disliked it so much lol.
