A heartbreaking, well-built version of the story of Neverland. Peter Pan is my favorite play, so I was excited to read this version of Tiger Lily's story. Her character was impulsive, brave and enough of a tomboy for me to admire her. The ending wasn't what I expected, but I was proud Tiger Liliy was able to break away from Peter Pan.
Rarely do I read memoirs, but I'm glad I found this one. As I have gone through a similar experience as the author, this book made me feel less alone, weird and guilty for being who I am. This story was a comfort to someone who is introverted and I recommend that people with dyscalculia should also read it.
A riveting book on four monumental, extraordinary writers and their group known as The Inklings. I can't imagine how long it took to research every minute fact employed in writing this story, as it was a compilation of letters, quotes and lines from other books. I didn't expect this book to cover the lives of Tolkien, Lewis, Barfield and Williams from their infancy to their deaths. Through this, the authors sculpted a fascinating, comprehensive account of their lives, even on their good and bad days. Anyone who wants an in-depth reading on any of these four famous authors should read "The Fellowship."
As soon as I finished The Fellowship of the Ring, my first thought was: I waited too long to read this. I loved the book as much as I loved The Hobbit, if not liking Frodo more than Bilbo. It was one of those stories that came alive as I dived through it in days, as I was unable to put it down. I would recommend not to read the sections with Gollum sneaking up on Frodo, or the Balrog attacking Gandalf on a dark afternoon in silence though, which were short-sighted mistakes on my part. Altogether a masterpiece of the fantasy genre, riddled with witty humor.
The character of Tally grew on me as the story went on and the ending was a cliffhanger I didn't see coming. Whenever the pretties or uglies referenced the "rusties" and their history, I thought those were the most interesting details. It was impressive that the author was able to create not only an unstable dystopian society based in the future, but that he made a whole history of their population to go along with it.
