The character of Tally grew on me as the story went on and the ending was a cliffhanger I didn't see coming. Whenever the pretties or uglies referenced the "rusties" and their history, I thought those were the most interesting details. It was impressive that the author was able to create not only an unstable dystopian society based in the future, but that he made a whole history of their population to go along with it.
