William Shakespeare's Return of the Jedi (William Shakespeare's Star Wars, Book 3) by Ian Doescher 5★♥♥

This was a great ending to Doescher's parody to the Star Wars trilogy. Especially the ending. I loved the ending with R2-D2 giving a speech to match Puck in A Midsummer's Night Dream. I read the first two books in this parody from the library ebooks. I couldn't wait till they had they third book available (they still don't), so I bought it for my kindle. I wasn't disappointed.

The Jedi Returns is my favorite in Lucas's Star Wars trilogy (well, his movies. I've yet to read the books). It's been a long time since I've seen the movies, but Doescher really did a great job with character description in this book. It seemed almost every character had a long prose speech, even some random Imperial Guards.

My favorite part was the way the characters all described the Ewoks...
Act 3. Luke:
"A simple tribe are these, yet wise as well—
With neither guns nor lightsabers they snar’d
A pilot skill’d, a Wookiee brave and strong,
A Jedi Knight, and two most earnest droids."

I'll definitely be recommending this to my Star Wars fan friends, or just fans of a good comedy and parody.

What does one Star Wars Fanatic do while waiting for The Last Jedi movie to be available to stream? Read Carrie Fisher’s book about being Princess Leia of course. I also ended up buying The Last Jedi book while I waited too.

I have both the kindle book and the audiobook. I like listening to the audiobook while I’m also reading along. This audiobook was great! Maybe even better than her other audiobook I have and loved, “Wishful Drinking.” The Princess Diarist has both Carrie Fisher and her daughter Billie Lourd. Carrie is funny and very blunt. The Princess Diarist dealt mostly with clearing the rumors of her affair with Harrison Ford, aka Han Solo. I think I just liked hearing about how Star Wars was her first jump into show biz, her opinions of being a fresh actress and even a few comments of working with Warren Beatty for her first film in Shampoo.

This audiobook is definitely a keeper, and the kindle book too because it shows some blurry photos of her actual diary and some other great photos of her, Ford and Mark Hamill.

I rate the movie of the Phantom Menace 2 stars★ out of 5. Ian has taking my disliking of this movie and made it more comical with his humor. Because the movie was very lacking in humor IMO (even with Jar Jar Binks).
And I must like Ian Doescher. Only explanation of why I'm reading through the Gawd-Awful! Jar Jar Binks parts. Ian's made it a little better to withstand that character. Like 5% better. Meaning I've stopped cringing whenever I hear Jar Jar's name.

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher (audio from iTunes) 5★♥

Loved this. Carrie was hilarious in this audiobook.
Honestly, I've owned this on iTunes for so long that I've forgotten about it. I'm glad that I got around to listening to the audio finally! It's a good listen. And the way Carrie read it made it feel like she was talking to me, not just reading her book.

Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Paterson 5 stars★ and still a favorite♥

I read this book back when it was first published in 2001. I remember loving the book because I felt that the characters were real. That's what made this such a tear jerker for me back then. But now I've forgotten some of the story. So that's why I've reread this. And it's now an even more tear jerker story. I think there was about four parts in this that really had me crying.

The story begins with Katie, who was just dumped by her boyfriend Matt Harrison. He then leaves her a diary for explaining why he left her. Katie is drawn to reading the diary, as was I. The diary is Suzanne's to her baby son, Nicholas.

SOME SPOILERS...
♥ Suzanne (and Matt's) last entries was when she was 37 years old, same age as me now. Of course, when this was first written, I was in my twenties. I don't think I was so emotional and connected that much to the characters as I did now. I certainly forgot what happened to young Nicholas. And it breaks my heart now because I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew on the way. And just thinking of what happened to Nicholas has me teary eyed right now. ♥
ok end spoilers

There are other things in this story too. A lot of life moral lessons. Like the story of the 5 balls theory:

"Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity. And you're keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls -- family, health, friends, integrity--are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered. And once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in your life." ~ Suzanne Bedford Harrison

A lot of the moral lessons I got from this is to live life. To take the time to listen to what life and the world has to offer. I liked that and the idea to have hope. This was also a starting fresh theme as both Suzanne and Katie choose to not live the unhappy/ or stressful life and start anew.

My favorite quote...

"Good memories are like charms, Nicky. Each is special. You collect them, one by one, until one day you look back and discover they make a long, colorful bracelet." ~ Suzanne to Nicholas.

This was an emotional story for me. I loved Matt and Suzanne, and Katie grew on me. I don't think I'd be able to watch the made-for-tv movie, despite even Christina Applegate, who I like. I just don't think I'd be able to watch because it's such a heart tugging story.

Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos
3⭐️

I was going to give this book a 2 star rating but the ending was better. I was not a fan of Cornelia, I like Clare and Teo a whole lot more. As for the plot, it was predictable and that made it difficult to just read it and not skip ahead. I actually had to use the horrid audiobook to keep myself from skipping through the redundancies.

Besides the ok ending I also liked the classic movie and book references. These oldies kind of hindered Cornelia because she compared everyone to Cary Grant. I love Cary Grant. It’s hard to pick a favorite movie of his, I love An Affair to Remember and The Philadelphia Story and so many others. But the way Cornelia was going on and on and on about Cary Grant and how much Martin (whom I also didn’t like right away) almost made me tired of hearing about Cary Grant. Sorry. Did I just say his name. Again and again... like the way I kept hearing about him in this book?

So you see why this was almost a did-not-finish (dnf) read. I wouldn’t have finished this if I had read it on my own but this was for a personal and Play Book Tag challenge.
